will lose Mizzou and A&M and gain Orange Bowl record setter West Virginia and last year's Rose Bowl winner, TCU.

Aside from losing the St Louis TV market, I'm not sure anyone can argue against these new schools being football upgrades.

How so? You have a losing record in the conference (since its inception) and Mizzou hasn't won a conference championship since before my parents were born. They are definitely upgrades. Combined they have appeared in 6 BCS bowls and won 4. Mizzou and A&M have won zero BCS bowls combined.

In addition I would say A&M might have more tradition, but that its overall a wash because Mizzou has no tradition. I think its certainly an upgrade.

I've always been a huge fan for the BIG XII but I think the conference has turned into a joke. Losing Mizzou and ATM were huge. Both are huge markets with an established history. Although their football teams aren't as good as WVU and TCU's their programs are still better. You can blame UT for all this nonsense. Texas is too greedy and is tryng to use ESPN to bully others around. We need to have 12 teams in the conference with a title game, but not sure who else is there to add. I really would like ND because of the name and market but that won't happen. UT wouldn't allow it..........

lack of public education is the problem in Somalia? or is it the Socialism and Islam? why are you trying to compare apples to orange juice? is it that public education you received?

same thing with the war, it is a separate argument, and has nothing to do with the failures of the public education system.

without any public education system how the hell is an under privileged kid supposed to get good grades in the first place?

lots of ways, most importantly, private tuition won't be as expensive as it is today, and there will also be plenty of discount schools funded in part by charity, etc. etc.

the fact that you can see only the back and white scenario of poor kid needs government to provide free school and meals shows a typical lack of understanding of economics and capitalism and history.

Somalia hasn't been a socialist country since 1991 so idk why you blame socialism for their current struggles. I can give you several examples of countries in Africa that are predominantly Christian with the same civil war problems Somalia has if you want. Canada is however a socialist country that focuses on education and has free tuition for any student who's parents make less than 40k a year, yet doesn't have the debt problem the US has.

You said you hate public education because it's a money pit the US gets nothing in return for. War in countries like Iraq is a money pit the US gets nothing in return for. By that logic you shouldn't be a big fan of war either.

what does Christian have to do with any of this? and why are you trying to make an argument for public education by pointing out poor African countries? how do those countries even remotely compare to America?

Canada is moving towards capitalism, and has never been been on the socialist side of the slider.

the cost of public education will only continue to snowball, like every other public program, whereas the Iraq war is pretty much in the books, and the fact that you think that the money spent on the Iraq war was a waste doesn't make it so, a stable, free, and prosperous Iraq will benefit the world economy, whereas a the alternative would have only lead to more death and destruction.

and public education is more than just a many pit, it does a very poor job of educating the youth. no competition + endless government funding = stagnant inefficient education.

lack of public education is the problem in Somalia? or is it the Socialism and Islam?

A) Do you know what socialism is? You do know you have to have a functional government to have socialism correct (This is with the provision that communism and socialism are two totally different and separate forms of government. Like as different as East and West Germany circa 1980)? I don't think you could ever construe this government of any previous government of Somalia as socialist.

B) Some of the fastest growing and capitalistic countries in the world have large Islamic populations. Your post reeks of xenophobia and a poor understanding of economics, the public education system and socialism. Much less world history.

You also reek of supporting Ron Paul for the republican nomination. Good luck with that.

I'm giving you examples of countries that have a completely free market with no public education

Canada is moving towards capitalism, and has never been been on the socialist side of the slider.
Labeling Canada as socialist or capitalist wasn't my point. My point was that Canada has a public education system and free tuition for any student with parents below the poverty line (40k), yet they don't have a debt problem at all.

the fact that you think that the money spent on the Iraq war was a waste doesn't make it so, a stable, free, and prosperous Iraq will benefit the world economy, whereas a the alternative would have only lead to more death and destruction.
1) :lol calling modern day Iraq a stable or prosperous country
2) You said public education is a money pit the US gets no returns on. What returns will the US get from the Iraq war?

and public education is more than just a many pit, it does a very poor job of educating the youth. no competition + endless government funding = stagnant inefficient education.
I agree with this, but that doesn't mean you get rid of public education completely. You repeal stuff like the No Child Left behind act that has fucked up public education.

Oh boy. Charity? Seriously?

also there needs to be a little personal responsibility, if you can't save up a couple thousand dollars in 7 years to put your kid in school, then you shouldn't have brought a kid into that world
I couldn't possibly agree with this anymore than I do, but the parents don't suffer when they're too irresponsible to save for their kid's education, the kid does. Plenty of kids deserve the same opportunities I have for having responsible parents.

A) Do you know what socialism is?
Most Republicans don't. They hear Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh call Barrack Obama a socialist and say his socialist policies will ruin America and use that to draw conclusions about what socialism is.
