Plain bad

Tony, we saw it once again tonight, it is extremely difficult to win here in Detroit.

Absolutely, the Pistons have played a big game. Once again, they defended well. Everything worked for them while we made the same mistakes we had done in Game 3. We lost the battle for the rebounds, and we lost too many balls (17). It is weird as we played like we were pressured on the attack. The Pistons’ all court pressure is bothering us a bit and we cannot seem to find any solution.

Can we remember such a bad games from the Spurs in the playoffs since your arrival in the league ?

No, it has to be the worse game since I am playing in San Antonio. We were plain bad, we did not do anything. It is frustrating as it is the second consecutive game that we completely miss. It is not like us, this is not our true face. No one is happy to loose by 30 points. I am having a tough time finding my words since I had never lived such a game. Pfft, what a whooping!

What are the keys for Game 5 ?

First, we will have to analyze this game on the video once our heads cool off. Then, we do not the right to miss so many easy shots. We also gave to many points to the Pistons on turnovers and lost balls. We must react, we have no choice.

We have the feeling that solidarity is not the word in this Spurs’ team. What is your feeling about this ?

No. It feels like it as when you are donw by 20 points, you have the tendency to do more on the attack to help your team. It is not coming from a set of bad decisions, but against a Detroit’s team that has an all-court press, it is impossible to make a difference alone.

We heard that Detroit’s bench was weaker than the one of San Antonio. Tonight, we could not farther from the truth…

It is true, the bench answered to the call. Lindsey Hunter was phenomenal, especially in the 3rd quarter where he scored 13 points. McDyess had once again a very performance (13 points, 7 rebounds, 1 block in 19 minutes). We cannot say the opposite, our bench was swallowed by Detroit’s bench.

The Palace at Auburn Hills is known for being one of the hottest arena in the NBA. Do you believe that the atmosphere there had any influence over the beginning of the last two games ?

Absolutely. Home court advantage always helps. This is reason why we fight throughout the regular season. On Sunday we ought to ask ourselves any questions. We will have to play like is Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Our entire season is upon this game and it is important not to miss it.

Any doubts in you and your teammates minds ?

No. We have already known this difficult situation against Seattle. Now, we must put in place a strategy and stick to it. We must stop to go in all directions.

Tim Duncan was not at his best…

He did not perform well and when you know Tim, you can only imagine that he is disappointed. He must be frustrated. Two games like that is not his style. Tim is the leader of our team, and he must show us the way but when you have two Wallace’s on your back, it isn’t easy to come out it.

Yea that didn't tell how crappy his j is. Tony is a guard that lives in a paint......... and that's not good enough IMO. He can't hit the 3, it takes time for the J, and he can't get in the paint. It's like he didnt want the ball!
