what did Kobe do during that 3 and a half year span when he didn't have daddy there? oh yea that's right! he didn't do shit!!!

Kobe as team leader without Shaq or Gasol ...

2004-05

Lakers: 34-48 (failed to even make playoffs)

2005-06

Lakers: 45-37 (stomped out by PHX in first round)

2006-07

Lakers: 42-40 (stomped out by PHX again in first round)

2007-08

Kobe cries to be traded because he knows he can't lead a team so Stern sends him Gasol and the Lakers immediately hit a 10 game winning streak that started on Gasol's third game as a Laker and they finish the season 27-9 since Gasol's arrival.

How meaningful is the OP when the player many feel is the greatest ever did this:

What did Jordan do when he didn't have Pippen? He didn't do shit!

1984-85 Chicago Bulls: 38-44 record (No Pippen = below .500)
Lost 3-1 to Bucks 1st round

1986-87 Chicago Bulls: 40-42 record (No Pippen = below .500)
Swept 3-0 by Celtics 1st round

1987-88 Chicago Bulls: Above .500 - (Pippen and Horace Grant join team)
Lost 2nd round 4-1 to Pistons

1988-89 Chicago Bulls:
Lost East Finals 4-2 to Pistons

1989-90 Chicago Bulls:
Lost East Finals 4-3 to Pistons

The Bulls were a below .500 team until Pippen and Grant joined the team. Then even with Pippen and Grant the Bulls were bitch-slapped three years in a row by the Motor City.

The greatest players have all failed at times. Doesn't mean shit. In sports how many times you succeed is what matters.

Those failures actually covered Jordan's first 6 seasons. He was injured most of year 2. Do you mean how in comparison Kobe was wearing three rings after his first 6 seasons?

Bottom line is the greatest players didn't win shit without talent around them. Not Jordan, not Kobe, not Magic, Not Bird, not Kareem....and your spin is laughable and nothing more than pandering to the lowest common denominator.

Once upon a time there was this 17 year old phenom that was drafted by the Hornets. They did not believe in his talent so they traded him away for Vlade Divac.

This teenager would go on to win scoring titles, rangs, and is now a first ballot HOFer. Meanwhile the Hornets might not exist after 2012-2013 season and the teenager is now a grown man that holds grudges. This is evidenced by busting their asses when he plays them. This phenom is now on a perennial contender.

Who knows what could have bee if that teenage phenom didn't get traded away. We will never know. But as a Laker fan, I thank the dumbasses in the Hornets' FO everyday.

Fixed it for ya. During the last decade Kobe has started to play defense only if he wants to. The young Kobe was a very good defender, but since 2004, 2005 (around that) he has fallen of a cliff. Seriously, all of these All Defense Team selections were utterly bullshit. You don't deserve such a selection if you play defense only every fifth game or so. And his MVP was a reward for career accomplishments. Chris Paul deserved it way more back then.

And no, I'm not a Kobe hater, he's lock in my personal Top 10. But unlike some Kobe fanbois in here, I'm not blinded by his stat padding.

Just to contribute another nugget of truth to this thread...

Right now Kobe has the highest usage rate of all time: 39.9%. (http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/7466271/person-interest)

No other player has ever used the ball on as many possessions per game as Kobe is doing right now this season. It's significantly higher than that 2005-06 season. And he's definitely scoring less than he did that season.

I think this pretty much seals the chucker argument.

Read that. Thought about posting it here but it's too depp for the rank and file. But you failed to highlight the part about Artest being overweight and shooting less than 35%, or the fact that the bigs were struggling to establish post position.
He did feel Kobe shot and especially dribbled too much but at least pointed out some of the reasons why like he is the only player we have that can effectively create offense. The problem is when he does like in pnr he prefers his shot over the roll-man ...:lol

tbh, the Lakerfan on Lakerfan violence this summer when the honkeys were brought over after the Paul debacle was a sad image to see. Even more so when some of them decided to jump ship entirely.

Cully had a knack for pointing out the Spurfan on Spurfan violence, so I gather it was an awful sight from his side of the pond too.

Son again ... when people argue back with name calling, curse words, or any other personal attack to try and take focus off of the original topic it is because they know they don't have a leg to stand on.

Facts and stats were presented in the topic of this thread. Not personal opinions, but since the facts and stats expose Kobe for being a terrible team leader and unable to do anything without an All Star big man some people are very mad about it and trying to spin it in their favor.

0 Titles
1 Regular Season MVP
0 Finals MVP
0 Finals appearances
0 Playoff series wins
4-8 playoff record
3 NBA All Defense Team
0 NBA Defensive Player of the year

You mean the MVP he won the year Gasol was gifted to the Lakers? THAT MVP without Gasol?? Is that the one? I remember THAT MVP he won without Gasol the year Stern gave Gasol to the Lakers. Sons there is just noway in hell anyone can justify Kobe leading the Lakers to a pathetic 121-125 record over 3 seasons without Shaq and then the moment they land Gasol they became title contenders overnight. I mean we are talking about the LOS ANGELES LAKERS here... not the Toronto Raptors, Memphis Grizzlies, or other scrub markets with owners who won't spend to win. That makes Kobe's 121-125 record as a team leader even more pathetic.

Hell even LeBron's choking ass took the lousy Cavs from arguably the worst team in the NBA to easily a top 5 team and title contenders every year with some of the worst rosters in NBA history. Just chew on that one for a little while. LeBron took the Cavs to the finals and Kobe couldn't even get out of the first round in 3 years.

Brian Cook
Luke Walton
Inconsistent ass Lamar Odom
67 year old Brian Grant
_erek Fisher
Mike Penberthy
(^from the top of my head)

...and get out of the 1st round against those stacked Phoenix teams. Had Horry not taken out their key players in 07, TD's sitting on 3* tbh.

TD had a stacked team last year. What happened? I'll tell you: 8.

So I'll say this and end mines. If TD couldn't repeat as champion, couldn't beat an 8th seed who tanked for the chance to tap that Spurs ass (and succeeded), how can you clown Kobe for not getting out the 1st round with the list of "NBA" players he had to roll with?

And speaking of repeating, Kobe has done something Magic, Bird, MJ, Shaq (and of course TD) never did: repeat as champion without a HOF teammate. What's funny is Pau won nary a playoff game until Kobe took him in and turned him into a 2-time champion.

son again how are facts and stats considered "stupidity, butthurt and fanboi nonsense"?

its not my opinion that the Lakers went 121-125 under the leadership of Kobe Bryant, its a fact.

its not my opinion that the Lakers didn't make the playoffs once and got stomped out in the first round twice under the leadership of Kobe Bryant, its a fact.

its not my opinion that after 3+ years of suckassness that Kobe Bryant cried to Stern and the media that he wanted a trade because it was obvious after 3 years he couldn't lead a team even in the prime of his career, its a fact.

its not my opinion that the Lakers immediately hit a 10-game win streak upon Pau Gasol's arrival and became title contenders overnight and have remained that way ever since, its a fact.

how can you argue against any of these facts? these are not opinions son.

Smush - NBA exile
Now 85 year old B Grant - TORSB - :king
Mihm - medically retired from getting yoked on - I had high hopes for him - NOT! :lol
Aaron McKie - helped 2011 8 in Gasol deal that killed the Spurs in more ways than one :lol
Laron Profit - Kobe look alike was his contributions :lmao
Tierrable Brown - :lmao
Slava MedMFn Medenko - :lol
Sasha "The Machine" Vujacic - :wow
Devean George - :rollin
Chucky Atkins! - :lol
Kareem the faggot Rush - :downspin:
Jumaine Jones - :blah
92 year old Vlade Divac - the original Charlotte Hornet - :rolleyes

Only a few players are still even in the NBA (stealing paychecks of course):

C Butler - good player. Can't talk shit on him. Never should have traded him. :(
Kwame - stealing GSW money :lol
Luke - stealing LAL money
B Cook - Bench Warmer City - stealing Clip Joint money

And now for the "Marquee Player" in the Shaq Trade: Lamarvelous Odom - Dallas bench warmer. 7.7/4.5/FG: 35.6%. #BALLIN!

Shit. Kobe should receive a Medal of Honor for taking the above stiffs to the playoffs. With Kobe, LO is a 6th man of the year avg. 15/9. Without him, see above numbers (stats don't lie :toast). The only decent player Kobe ever played with after the Shaq trade was Butler. Other than that, he played with a watery shit stained roster. And many fucks on here got the nerve to clown. Smush or Atkins - starters
Kobe
Luke - starter
Cook - starter
Kwame - starter

Results: 1st round exit(s). These stiffs should have to order NBALP rather than start for my Lakers. We were a lucky Tim Thomas 3 away from upsetting the heavily favored suns. Thems be the facts. Neal with it.

“I don’t give a [fuck] what you say,” Bryant told Yahoo! Sports late Friday. “If I go out there and miss game winners, and people say, 'Kobe choked, or Kobe is seven for whatever in pressure situations.' Well, [fuck] you.

“Because I don’t play for your [fucking] approval. I play for my own love and enjoyment of the game. And to win. That’s what I play for. Most of the time, when guys feel the pressure, they’re worried about what people might say about them. I don’t have that fear, and it enables me to forget bad plays and to take shots and play my game."

Once upon a time there was this 17 year old punk ass bitch that was drafted by the Hornets after lying to the Nets that he would go play in Europe if they drafted him. Kobe refused to play for any team but the Lakers so they traded him away for Vlade Divac.

This teenager would go on to outrageous usage rates, role-player rangs, trade demands, and is now a first ballot HOFer on name and hype alone. Meanwhile the Hornets still exist after 2012-2013 season and owned the Lakers by not giving them CP3 and the teenager is now a grown manchild that holds grudges against Smush Parker. This is evidenced by blowing up the teams he plays for. This phenom is now ruining what was thought to be a perennial contender.

Who knows what could have been if that teenage crybaby didn't have Shaq carry him to LA. We will never know. But as a Laker fan, I cry about David Stern and the Hornets' FO everyday.

The End

2. His career TS% is higher than Duncan's.

Duncan trumps him pretty easily with his playoff TS%.

Regular season TS%:
Kobe: .555
Duncan: .552

Post-season TS%:
Kobe: .541
Duncan: .549

Kobe sees a significant drop in his TS% during the post-season. Pretty embarassing for someone that's supposed to be the best closer in the game.
