I'd have to go with their album, Pretty Hate Machine. Definitely an awesome one.

You know I was thinking of something the other day..what exactly categorizes a song or album? I used to be told NIN was alternative, but others think its rock/metal. Its hard nowadays to tell where exactly a band fits. Like the Cure, I always thought it was alternative too, but some people consider it just 80's, which I didn't even know was its own category. So give me examples, what falls under each:

Alternative
Rock
Metal
New Wave
Hip Hop
Rap
80's
mainstream
R&B
Country(hell even those lines aren't clear anymore either lol)

Other categories? and are some the same thing?

I thought for sure you were going to say Winger, afterall they did sing your anthem: "She's only 17". :lol

I saw sparks fly, from the corner of my eye
And when I turned, it was love at first sight
I said please excuse me, I didn't catch your name
Oh it'd be a shame not to see you again
And just when I thought she was comin' to my door
She whispered sweet and brought me to the floor, she said
I'm only seventeen, but I'll show you love like you've never seen
She's only seventeen, daddy says she's too young, but she's old enough for me
Come to my place, we can talk it over, oh everything going down in your head
She said take it easy, I need some time, time to work it out, to make you mine
And just when I thought she was comin' to my door
She whispered sweet and brought me to the floor, she said
I'm only seventeen, you ain't seen love, ain't seen nothing like me
She's only seventeen, seventeen
(Solo)
Such a bad girl, loves to work me overtime
Feels good (ha), dancin' close to the borderline
She's a magic mountain, she's a leather glove
Oh she's my soul, it must be love
She's only seventeen, still she gives me love, like I've never seen
She's only seventeen, daddy says she's too young, but she's old enough for me
She's everything I need, daddy says she's too young
But she's old enough, old enough for me

^ Thanks, just came up with those off the top of my head. I'm sure when I get home and check the CD collection some others will come to mind. I was lucky enough to have a friend of mine convince me to see Soundgarden after Loud Love came out, didn't know shit about them, but their show was amazing, was hooked at that point.

(neither of those three are metal, but..)

Incubus is really good, saw em at lollapalooza, they rocked, SCIENCE was by far the best album tough, DJ Lyfe much better than DJ Kilmore

RATM is ridiculously bad ass in every way imaginable...

Audioslave is like a cheap slut ripoff that is good looking from a distance....kinda like Ashley Simpson was hot the first time you saw her cuz she had those big Simpson T's but when you kept seeing her on her show you realized how hideous she was

Artist : Foo Fighters
Song : Monkey Wrench

Lyrics :

What have we done with innocence
It disappeared with time, it never made much sense
Adolescent resident
Wasting another night on planning my revenge

One in ten

Don't want to be your monkey wrench
One more indecent accident
I'd rather leave than suffer this
I'll never be your monkey wrench

All this time to make amends
What do you do when all your enemies are friends
Now and then I'll try to bend
Under pressure wind up snapping in the end

One in ten

Don't want to be your monkey wrench
One more indecent accident
I'd rather leave than suffer this
I'll never be your monkey wrench

One last thing before I quit
I never wanted any more than I could fit
Into my head I still remember every single word
You said and all the shit that somehow came along with it
Still there's one thing that comforts me since I was
Always caged and now I'm free

Don't want to be your monkey wrench
One more indecent accident
I'd rather leave than suffer this
I'll never be your monkey wrench

Don't want to be your monkey wrench (fall in, fall out)
Don't want to be your monkey wrench (fall in, fall out)
Don't want to be your monkey wrench (fall in, fall out)
Don't want to be your monkey wrench
