Now I know Bucher has only like a 30% success rate with his "reports" ...but I have heard similar things through other channels ..

From Bucher: Problem as I hear it is they are on slightly different pages. Mitch wants to hold onto Pau and see if they can package him with Bynum to get Dwight. Buss wants to move Pau now for help/depth and thereby also eliminate the chance that his pet project, Bynum, goes anywhere. That's the unofficial buzz.

Not sure what we should do I think Pau + bynum is too much unless we get Anderson or Reddick in addition to Turk tbh, but I do know we aint winning a title in the next 2 years as built so Mitch needs to do something.

You can't trade them both for Howard.

I too would like to trade Pau for a potpourri.

So who could the Lakers get for Pau that would improve them?

Let me ask you this. (BTW, i agree Cully)

which lineup is better?

PG Fisher
SG Kobe
SF Turk/Barnes
PF Anderson
C Howard

or

PG Fisher
SG Kobe
SF Barnes/Artest
PF Pau
C Bynum

I'm with Jimmy Pau and Bynum is too much but the flip side is we get out of Pau's contract. But Im sure they won't want to give Anderson and McRoberts is not a good fit next to Dwight we would need a stretch 4 ...

pau and bynum are both very good low post players. with bynum and kobe hogging the ball, pau has been reduced to a jump shooter. the lakers need to trade one of them for sure.

The problem with both lineups is that Fisher still starts. Give me D12 and Anderson though. Dwight is easily the most dominant low-post presence in the game and Pau is getting older and expensive. Anderson's flourishing alongside D12, and he's just 23 y/o.

Youth movement.

Also, landing D12 would pretty much make us a lock to get D-Will next year.

it'd never happen but Pau for Rondo, would you do it LakerFan?

Yes, as long as it isn't at the expense of a D12 trade.

Getting Howard is all that matters

I'll take pau + Bynum for Howard + pieces like reddick to fix our bench.

I'll. Play trade machine:

Pau Gasol
Steve Blake

for

Josh Smith
Kirk Hinrich

With Horford going down for a while, Pau would be stabilizing force for the Hawks frontcourt. And I think when Horford returns, they could be a very tough challenge for Chicago and Miami with that size up front. Lakers get a really good talent in Smith while allowing Bynum to be an even bigger focal point offensively. Plus they upgrade the PG position as well.

Edit: I didn't realize Hinrich was still out. When is he expected to return?

trade would be OK, not great.
Hinrich hasnt been healthy in 1.5 years ...
SMith though younger faster and more athletic has never been a reliable jump shooter and Bynum/Kobe needs a stretch PF 4 better spacing.

The Lakers have to trade Gasol though; he doesn't look like anything close to the player he was in the triangle. While Bynum is no Howard, Bynum+Gasol is way too much to give up for Dwight unless the Lakers can't get anything interesting for Gasol alone.

You think the richest and most arrogant owner in the league is going to gift the Lakers a sign and trade? In the year he moves to Brooklyn?

This is hilarious. Lakers shouldn't even have both if Stern was doing his job and veteod the Grizzlies firesale

I've seen no inclination by the Buss family that they're willing to use that warchest.

Bynum + Pau for D12+Turk+Redick is about as fair it can get for both sides.

Lakers wouldnt be better IMO but they'd be able to attract FAs after Kerby retires being that it's LA and they'll have the best C in the league.

They got a $9 mil trade exception for him iirc. I wanted to keep LO but once he heard he was on the trading block he turned all emo

But, they don't have to pay that exception unless they use it.

Of course he got "emo." They knew damn good and well he would.

They were within their rights to trade him. After that failed, they were reprehensible in their actions.

Both scenarios of trading Gasol are ridiculous. Losing both Gasol and Bynum and gaining Howard doesnt make the Lakers better.

If the Lakers are really up for trading Gasol, Im sure the Suns would gladly take him.

Buss is dump. Lakers should trade Bynum now that his value is high, before his anual injury.

Amaso
01-20-2012, 06:41 PM
I don't think it would require Pau + Bynum to get Howard. Otis Smith is pretty high on Bynum. Orlando is just stalling til after the ASG to make a trade if one is going to happen, but you can't blame them for waiting or hoping someone gives them an absurd deal(which won't happen). I don't even really mind losing Pau since his impact on games isn't what it used to be. His post games seems to have recessed and he seems to be playing with zero motivation. This isn't even mentioning the fact that his contract is pretty bad at this stage of his career.

Stupid trade.

Don't like it for the lakers either, but maybe he was trolling because it really is a stupid trade.

Maybe he meant to have Hinrich as an appealing part of the package.

Not to LA when they don't have capspace. You can't seriously think Brooklyn is going to take the 2 years, $38 million left on the contract for a 32 year-old Gasol if he loses DWill and thus has to rebuild.
