He's a shit load better than Neal that's for sure.

TJ can't get back soon enough. Although in the beginning of the 4th if Tony is going to rest I wouldn't mind letting Danny get the responsibility and run the offense through Tiago for a few minutes until Tony gets back on the floor.

Hes a place-holder at best. Fortunately, hes a good ball handler. But if you're going to have him play the "PG" for you then he needs to have the right players on the court with him. Pushing the offense through Splitter would seem a logical solution while Green is our "PG".

Green's job was to get the ball up the court by any means necessary. That usually included him backing his way up the court.
That said, it's not a bad look because Green is good in transition. And if Neal is also in the game, it's useful because it allows Neal to guard whoever the other team's weakest player on the perimeter, no matter the position.

I think we have to sign a vet pg and just give him a look like Diogu. Corey obviously isn't ready and Tony can't keep this up for another 4-5 weeks.
Danny's okay but other teams will start figuring him out soon enough.

He was sufficient, offensively, but still shaky..unfortunately, that will continue until Manu and/or Ford return..
Green's defense is a lot worse than previously advertised, tbh..

I don't blame Pop for experimenting with it, because Neal flat out can't play the position and Joseph flat out isn't ready. Plus, as timvp said, it allows for defensive versatility, which is especially important with Neal on the floor, because he should be hidden as much as possible defensively.
But they've really got to get someone who can fill in for the next 3-4 weeks. They're running Parker into the ground. It's not so much the minutes as it is the responsibility. His back is already sore and I get the sense that at some point, he's going to come up lame with some nagging injury.
Smith is a name that's been mentioned. He's lightning quick, but is undersized and an atrocious shooter. Still, if they think he can do a reasonable Ford impersonation, then they should bring him in. If they don't think he can, then, as much as it pains me to type it, Boykins probably makes the most sense.

They should, but I wouldn't be suprised if the FO goes cheap and decides to wait for Manu and Ford to get back from injury.

his man to man D is quite poor. He's petty much relying on being able to recover and poke the ball out or block from behind.

He didn't look any better or worse than Joseph to me. Just give Parker as much rest as possible and don't fuck anything up. Keep doing that until Manu comes back.

My verdict is...Why did they give up Jarrett Jack for nothing? That said...Green is playing with utmost confidence this year. He's a stat builder just like he was at NC. He's the type of player that whether he's asked or do what's needed at the time...he just seems to have that IT factor.
He's up for a new contract at the end of the season...do the Spurs resign him or lose him? If he keeps this up, you know other teams will be presenting some nice offers.

He's been playing some lead guard off-and-on since the Florida trip.

If they time Parker's rest with Splitter being on the floor it could work. The offense could be run through the post. Green is at least a mild threat to score, where as Joseph is not.

It looks like for now 2 of these 3 have to be on the floor at the same time.
Parker,Neal, Green
The team appears to have lost all confidence in Joseph. We are wearing Parker out. He is having to force more shots on tired legs. If Tony goes down...
It seems like we need an extra guy who can just bring the ball up the floor and stay in front of his man on D for 10 or less min. a game in the interim.
And TJ Ford was just starting to play well. The league should have set the schedule at 50 games or so. This is really taking a toll on us and a number of other teams. It is possible we may get lucky with having early injuries. I dont see how a team like the Lakers are going to get away with Kobe staying healthy with the way they play him and the minutes.

I remember seeing players back their way up the court more in the past.

I don't know...Joseph shot 100% from the floor tonight...:lol

No...Joseph continues to get about 5 minutes a game. Thats more than Anderson can usually say.
I wouldn't say they have lost all confidence in him. But Pop definitely has very limited and selective confidence in him.

Didn't Danny Green start as a PG and won us a couple of games last year on a certain period? Maybe I'm confused with another player...

Would like to see Ahearns signed and Joseph sent to Austin where he could get some meaningful minutes for the future. If TJ has trouble coming back, Blake might be good enough to fill the roll.

As a non-guaranteed prospect I would like the Spurs to take a chance on Marcus Lewis from the D league.

If we're just getting a placeholder PG for a couple of weeks, I'd consider calling up a vet like Antonio Daniels or Keith McLeod. Dominique Coleman is having a great year at the point, but I don't feel the need to break another young guy in now.

I say just keep rolling with Green, he's already got a couple games under his belt and he seems to have a Manu-esque quality about his game (part playmaker, part scorer) so why not just keep running with it until he has a couple bad games in a row.

That could work too. Could be valuable in the future if he can develop out of Vinnying the ball up the court.

Please not another player playing out of position
Green is a swingman and he only should play SG/SF.

Anderson is playing at a position in which he have bodies. We have one PG now.
5 min is just enough time to let Parker throw-up, wash out his mouth, and go back to the scorers table.

I like green way better than Joseph and lately his to's are increasing and he just refuses to take a shot. Plus Green is good at weak side help

Wow, from not being able to dribble to backup PG in one season. Good thing some people are just posters and not the actual coaches of the Spurs.
