I can't believe he didn't get a max extension; he needs to fire his agent ASAP.

Is that not max?

A little over $15 mil per year is not bad. He's not gonna end up like Terrell Owens.

Isn't the max a flat 30% of the cap now? I haven't read the new CBA, but I remember that being part of the final proposal as reported by USA Today or the NY Times (can't remember which) at the end of the lockout.

30 is the max after the rookie deal if they started on the all star team two teams, made all NBA 2 times or is the MVP one time. Otherwise it's 25% max I belive

Love probably will put 99% of it in the bank

The players got fucking screwed then. They should have never played this season in that case.

he deserves a max deal

The max after a players rookie deal is about 16 million a year so love is barely under max status. But love is an amazing player who deserves it. And Minnesota got him for only 4 years which is what they wanted, everybody wins

Two sources close to process tell ESPN com that Kevin Love has NOT yet agreed to contract extension and that talks are still "ongoing"

No decision from Love on whether to accept Wolves' current offer or become restricted free agent in July to come before WEDS, sources say

Agreed tbh, he's a big man shooting 0.429, that's pretty damn poor.

Love would be pretty damn dumb to accept anything but the max. Let's be honest, his marketability ceiling is higher than any player in the league.

The wolves really should extend him sooner rather than later, they aren't going to get anything better than him anytime soon. He's not franchise money in the traditional sense since you don't really run the team through him but if they let it roll on somebody like Boston will deffiantly offer max . Just get it over with now Kahn and save your little wolves some drama.

2 reasons I see him signing for less than the max:

1. He might want to build a contender in Minny, and that gives them a LOT of cap breathing room to sign other players now.

2. He's immediately becomes a top 5 "deal" contract in basketball. He could literally go anywhere to any team with such a relatively low cost for the performance. Not hard to package young players together to make $15mil a year.

I think it's perhaps a fiscal concession but very wise as a basketball move. Love might even realize his skillset would make it hard to build a title contender around him with a max deal.

If I'm Kevin Love, I take pity on the organization and accept the insulting lowball offer (still 60 million dollars, seriously that's plenty), in order to give the team more room to sign better players, challenge Lebron and the Heat for dominance in the ECF for the next half-decade

What is his ceiling, though? I'm not sure he is ever going to be the best player on a title team. Definitely a #2 though.

If he didn't want to sacrifice money to win a title with a Final 4 supporting cast in Westwood, doubtful he takes less to try to win with a horrible organization in Minneapolis.

If Chauncey Billups could be the best player on a title team I think Love could do it too.

The next four guys after Billups were pretty much as good as him. The Pistons had like five #2 guys and ran into a Laker team with an injured Karl Malone and beset by infighting.

sons the Great White Buffalo is worth more than that chump change contract. he should laugh at anything less than a max deal.

Then maybe this is a trade-minded contract.

great player but not the kind of player that you can count on as the leader of your team imho. dude ain't that great at defense, poor positioning & limited ability in blocking shots though his rebound numbers are impressive. his offensive game can be described as one-dimensional and he doesn't create chances for himself, also the fact that his team sucks balls must count against him in market value

DH is a monster in D plus above-average offensive game while blake MF'N griffin has a leader's heart in him and plays more balanced game, kevin love ain't like neither of them and a 62m/4yr contract sounds like the best offer that could be given to this n!gga tbh

his more of a statpadder, then the type that can carry a team on his back to a win

I'm eager to know how that's gonna work given the fact that Minny is part of the WC...
