What program would you use to split up a ... uh, home movie? Every time I try to split up a movie, it lags. Does anyone know of a good program that splits it without the lag... and is pretty easy to use.

Are you talking dumping a DV from a camcorder to your computer or taking a home movie, say, from a DVD?

If it's from a DV camcorder, I use iMovieHD on my iMac, but I don't know if you can use on a PC.

lets say a Ripped Dvd... Mpeg format, or avi... I dont have a problem with converting it to the recommended format, I just need a program to actually split it in two.

Well if you ripped a DVD you should get .VOB files, DVD files have to be in MPEG-2 NTSC format and when the DVD is being made they are converted to .VOB files but, still are MPEG-2.

You can use Ulead DVD factory which you can download off http://www.download.com
to split them.

Well if that's the case then Windows Movie Maker(comes with XP) should be alright or you can try these programs:

http://www.download.com/Ulead-MediaStudio-Pro/3000-7970_4-10191318.html?tag=lst-0-8 (95 MB)

http://www.download.com/Ulead-VideoStudio/3000-2194_4-10389776.html
(175 MB)

They're big files but, the movie editors that are <30 MB are all crap and might carry potential spyware but, if you're on a slow connection then just do a search query on http://www.download.com for "Movie Editors"
