I feared the worst but it didn't look that bad. they've made a good job but it still isn't as good as the black on black San Antonio jerseys.

I feared they would be hideous but they actually look pretty good. Like Bruno said however, Black on Black is my dream. Hopefully they can do it before Tim or Manu retire.

Doesn't matter if they do them or not if we can't purchase them. Guess I'm back to checking the NBA store every few days to look for updates.

Besides the fact that they look a lot like LACs jerseys, they are actually pretty clean looking.

Disagree. While the color was awful, the old-school Spurs logo makes up for it. On a side note, the warm-ups they used the nights they wore silver were amazing.

They're going to go on sale in March on NBA.com, supposedly...and you'll be able to buy them at the AT&T Center in March, also.

Black on black is the pick to go with hands down. Having said that, why wear those against the Clippers? I understand Indiana and New Jersey (former ABA teams) but seeing as how the Spurs have to play Denver, shouldn't that have been the 3rd game?

If it's an ABA throwback, wear it against the ABA teams. Hell, it would be cool to see those teams wear their ABA throwbacks as well.

Of course, the NBA won't allow for the red, white and blue ball, but everything else would be cool.

If the jerseys were matte instead of glossy, i bet they would be a hell of a lot better.

Hideous. At least they're not as gag-reflex-inducing as the jerseys Memphis is wearing right now. Also, what was up with them playing stock porno music in the background while Danny Green was modeling the jersey?

NBA.com is weird.

LOL Spurs.

Black on black, San Antonio on the front, is what everyone wants. It's a great fuckin jersey.

Instead, we get a Dallas jersey.

Lame.

Just ask 'em . . .

Noob here. Can someone clarify and maybe post a pic of a black on black jersey? I googled them and I see a ton of black jersey's with white text so I'm unsure what the black on black reference is. I do see some with black text and a white outline, very few so maybe that is the reference.

Thanks in advance.

The Dallas Chaparrals were moved to San Antonio that us how we got our team We just renamed them the spurs and changed the colors to black white and silver
The mavericks were an expansion team that began in 1980-1981 season

oh please have a little variety..

the glossy jerseys were an atrocity.. made me wanna throw up when i first saw our players wearing them..

black/white
black/black

same spurs logo..

it's just monotonous to me.. at least mix it up once in a while.. it's not like we're gonna wear these jerseys forever.. quite frankly i like em..

Obviously, and strengthens my point, that they were DALLAS team.
When we bought them we changed the name to SAN ANTONIO SPURS, not San Antonio Chaps!

It extends across most professional sports teams to wear tribute, throwback gear for either the franchise or the city.

http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/images_root/slides/photos/000/836/890/kobe-MPLS_display_image_display_image.jpg?1302109790

San Antonio could have kept the name Chaparrals, while they were leasing the team its first season in SA. However, the new management team decided to change it to the Spurs. The initial idea was the Gunslingers. They played the 1st preseason in SA with red, white and blue Spurs unis...then, for the regular season in 1973, they changed to the silver and black, offset number style with which we are familiar.

At least they were original. LA certainly isn't known for its lakes and you NEVER think of Jazz music coming out of Salt Lake City...tabernacle choir music, perhaps, but not Jazz.

Here is an example similar to the Chaps throwbacks. The Tennessee Titans wore these Houston Oilers unis recently.

I plan on getting one - who do you think I should go for?

Bonner, Manu, Duncan (already have an away jersey though), Gervin, Sean E. or Bowen?

BTW, the Spurs starting lineup in 1973 after changing names was Joe Hamilton (5'-10"), James Silas (6'-3"), Harley "Skeeter" Swift (6'-3"), Rich Jones(6'-8"), and Bob Netolicky (6'-9"). That was basically a 3 guard lineup and nobody was over 6-9, so Pop wasn't the first Spurs' coach to "go small". :p:
