View Full Version : Manu's Return?

With no more games in January, the Spurs' record is 13-9. Manu got hurt January 2nd and was estimated to be out about 6 weeks which would put his return mid-February and in the middle of the RRT.

When do you think Manu comes back?

I think he comes back against the Clippers on February 18th (two days off prior, practice time available). But if the Spurs can go 4-4 or better these next 8 games then i wouldn't mind sitting him until after the All-Star break and having him come back against Chicago (Feb. 29th).

Back end of the road trip is brutal with games at LAC, UTA, POR (b2b), and @ Denver. I don't know if a rusty Manu helps us win those games anyways.

Thoughts?

I haven't heard any update on his rehab or when his due date is but with the way the young guys are playing and giving them a lot of confidence (whose minutes is he going to take away). I don't think I would be in a hurry to bring him back. Besides like someone said we don't know good/bad/rusty he'll be when he first gets back and it may turn out to not make much of a difference. Having said that we might bring him back after AS Break.

Rusty Manu?

Ahahahaha.

He broke his shooting hand. I'm not sure how much conditioning he is able to do but it's tough when you can't shoot a ball for a month and a half.

Manu said on his twitter he is expected to be back during the Feb 10-15th stretch

@LAC on the 18th looks about right. 8 more games. Hopefully we can go 4-4 and that would put us at a total of 14-12 without Manu.

“He’s shooting mid-range shots, lefty,” coach Gregg Popovich said Monday. “He’ll be cleared to go one-on-one in a week or so.”

Dont worry about seeding. As we witnessed last year, seeding doesn't mean shit. We just need to focus on making the playoffs. Then MANU WILL RISE!l!!:flag:

What a relief. I still expect his shooting percentage to go down, but since it'll be only due to rust, I'll take it. I was worried that the surgery may have forced him to fundamentally alter his shot.

I pray he's back for when I see the Spurs at the Feb 15th game, but I doubt he'll be back by then.

It'll be nice to have one above-average free throw shooter on the team again.

At 93.8% for the first 5 games of this season (and 87-88% for the last 3 or 4 seasons), I'd say Ginobili's free throw shooting is more than "above average," but yeah, point taken.
