Did not want to do this but holy shit he's raping.

He's playing like he's been doing that for a lifetime.

Melo should take notice and take some note on how to spread the floor, share the ball and actually make plays. Good game for the young padawan. :toast

Well, Lin is the only true PG on the Knicks, and Mike D'antoni's system is basically, "I'm gonna give the PG the ball, he's gonna do everything, and we'll go as far as he goes."

"I knew he could play," Melo said. "I think with the situation like that, it's all about having game experience. He played in the Boston game, which was a big game for him. He kept his confidence. A guy in a situation like that could've easily lost his confidence in that game last night. Tonight, he came out, he picked us up and he won the game for us."

"He plays hard out there defensively," Chandler said. "A couple of times I was going to come help and he's like, 'I'm all right.' To hear that, being a defender myself, I like to hear that."

Reck

The New York Knicks (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/teams/new-york-knicks) had a big victory over the New Jersey Nets (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/teams/new-jersey-nets), and they had two Bay Area athletes to thank for that victory. Clearly, the lion's share of the credit goes to Jeremy Lin (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/112004/jeremy-lin), as the Harvard grad from Palo Alto poured in 25 points on 10 of 19 shooting, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. It was a great performance that made up for a lackluster game by Carmelo Anthony (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/21501/carmelo-anthony).
But former Stanford alum Landry Fields (http://www.sbnation.com/nba/players/112562/landry-fields) might have had a part to play in this win too, and you'd be surprised how his impact was felt.
http://cdn1.sbnation.com/images/blog/star-divide.v5e9d7f1.jpg
Fields shot 3 of 8 from the field, finishing with six points and five rebounds, but that wasn't the crucial impact that Fields had on this game.

"As you seen out there tonight, you come in here with that attitude, you're in trouble," coach Tyrone Corbin (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/163/tyrone-corbin) said. "These guys can play, man, and they got pride. They get an opportunity to play and they make the most of their minutes.
"They stuck it to us, really."

He made the biggest basket of a game, a desperation 3-pointer with the shot clock winding down and 1:58 remaining that gave the Knicks a 95-86 lead. He previously converted two three-point plays in the period, the latter pushing the lead to 10 with 4:29 left

Also, D'antoni (http://knicksnow.com/videos/431)

(On having a Point Guard) "It’s fun," coach Pringles said. "You can actually draw a play up and 'Oh, Boy, this might work!' "

(On playing him 45 Minutes) "I'm riding him like freakin' Secretariat."

(On his evaluation of Lin when he worked out for the Team during Predraft a year ago) "I didn't know he can play defense, i didn't think he could shoot well enough and i didn't think he could go up and finish. So I'm going 'can't finish, can't shoot, can't play defense. I like his speed, but I DON'T KNOW!' "

(On booing Jared Jeffries) "Anybody who boos Jared Jeffries HAS got to reexamine their lives a little bit."

What I really like is that it's turning out to be a true underdog success story. He's never drafted, gets waived multiple times, sent to the D-League, but is basically looking like the heart of the Knicks right now. I think he's got them totally fired up and perhaps in contention for the playoffs. Hell, I'm a Spurs fan and he's making me want to root for the Knicks a little bit also. I don't know if there's anything to this, but I checked him out on Wikipedia and it says somethig like he believes programs wouldn't give him a shot because of his race...? Do you think he's just gotten really good the past year or was he always a baller that was never given a chance? Just curious what you think.

I dont think he's gotten much better then how he started. Of course you get better with practice but I cant see a dramatic increased in perfomance from lets say last year till now, specially when you weren't given a true chance to show you you got.

I was watching the Knicks-Nets game through the Nets feed and the broadcasters were talking about how Donnie Nelson invited him to Mavs summer camp and that he was the only one that took care of him and how much Lin appreciated that.

Lin falls in that dreaded category of players with lots of talent that never get a chance to show because of whatever reason.

I think its too bad the only way to even get decent minutes nowadays is for key players to be out with some kind of injury.

Thankfully Lin got a break and he's shown enough heart and skills to be at least looked at now.

I went to see him play at Taipei Arena in August 2011 when Taiwanese descent Lin came back Taiwan. He looked shorter than 6'3". He really dribbled and passed the ball well. I don't know why he missed a lot of 3-point shots in NBA. Because he was no problem on his 3-pt shooting during a shootout show in Taipei Arena.
Lin reminds me an ex-NBA phenom - Steve Francis. He had been benched for one year untill he replaced his injured teammate and shined bright as a starter.(of course Francis dunked better than Lin)
Lin hadn't been given a chance to play due to no trust in a skinny Taiwanese undrafted rookie by those coaches including D'Antoni.
D'A played Lin because he didn't have choice when Davis injured and Bibby sucked.
We can ony say, this is an opportunity from heaven for a pro bball talent.

Kinda BS if you ask me - you would think it would be the complete opposite. From what I've heard, confidence was a big issue w/ Lin at GS. Now, he's w/ a NY team as the only competent PG available as the team has well underachieved.

I'm curious how well he plays against the Lakers this Friday. Fisher's not a good defender, but the Lakers as a whole are one of the best defensive teams so far in the league.

You're correct at some point. Let's wait and see the Lakers/Knicks game.
(Regardless win or lose, just see how Lin can contribute in the game )

Kid needs to work on his endurance and limiting his TOs.

I agree with that Lin needs to work on his endurance but I think there is no problem with limiting his TOs because he was indeed too fatigue to play 81 minutes on b2b games in 2 days since he had been benching for such a long time.

I like this kids play and being able to penetrate into the lane at will. He creates a lot of good spacing like Tony Parker does. I will remain guardedly optomistic to see if he can continue this for his NBA career. I still would take Rubio over Lin though. ;)

Rubio is better on passing but he is sucked on his shooting.
Lin is good at passing, penertating layup and mid-range shooting and a better scorer as well.
Regardlees of races, I would take Lin over Rubio.

Impressive few games by the kid. I think it does show that D'Antoni's system allows a PG to be successful if he makes smart decisions and shoots the ball well. It will be interesting to see how long Lin can play at this level, against better teams and with teams focusing on him more. It will be even more interesting to see what happens when both Amare and Melo get back and how it affects his game, for better or worse.

The knicks are better or worse when two stars get back isn't my focus. the important thing is he can contribute and score, which he has already proved.

In every highlight I've seen, he only goes right. He can finish with his left, but he never goes left toward the rim. That and the teams he has played well against are not that good. The Jazz are decent at best.

He was California player of the year, won the state championship, and yet he didn't get a single scholarship from any division I school. He beat John Wall in the draft camp, but still wasn't drafted. You tell me that had nothing to do with his ethnicity.

An African American with perfect SAT scores and a 4.0+ GPA would have a much better chance to attend Harvard than a comparable Asian if they came from the same schools. In fact, Harvard would likely pay their books & tuition.

Feel the Lin-sanity: Why Jeremy Lin Is More Than a Cultural Curio

When frighteningly fickle hoops fans are chanting “MVP” after your first career start, then you know you might be something special. When you become the first player since Lebron James to have at least twenty points and eight assists in your first two NBA starts, then you know the sports world will take notice. When you provide an infectious glee to a group of teammates who look at you with naked, near tearful gratitude like you’ve dragged them from basketball purgatory, then you know you have made an impact. When you are also the first American-born player of Asian descent ever in the NBA as well as a Harvard graduate, and you play with a black-top flair that defies preconception and prejudice, then you know you’re poised to draw unbridled attention. When you do it all in New York City, then you have to know that the hyperbole will not be constrained or contained. Welcome to Lin-sanity, otherwise known as the feverish outpouring of adulation heaped upon the new starting point guard for the New York Knicks, Jeremy Lin.

But most impressive—and transgressive—is that he plays with a flair and joy that in two games has given a dour, mopey Knicks team a sense of purpose and joy. His pre-game handshake alone with teammate Landry Fields has more intelligent soul than Donald Glover.

Maybe it won’t last. Maybe he’s just played well against awful teams. Maybe Carmelo will play the role of Nurse Ratchett, ordering the Cukoo’s Nest to stop having fun and making Coach Mike D’Antoni give Jeremy Lin a basketball lobotomy. But for now we can relish in the Lin-sanity: a player who breaks the ultimate stereotype: making tired NBA players look like they’re having the time of their lives.

Actually...if you're black you probably have a higher chance of getting into top tier universities compared to caucasian and asian, due to affirmative action (that's just how society works man).

He got into Harvard simply because he's freaking really smart. I'm actually friends with his bro and went to the same HS as him. He's kind of a legend.

I've been a fan of his since forever back when he was in Harvard and I was in HS.
It's great seeing him explode, I want to see how he plays with melo and amare though. Prob a dip in points for sure, but his assist numbers could rise.

How many times have I been saying Lin is not Chinese? He is Taiwanese.
You may say that Lin is American or Taiwanese but you shouldn't say he's Chinese.
Lin's family lived in Taiwan for 200 years already.
Should I say Kobe is African?

We are one if you mention the ethnicity.
Again, Lin isn't Chinese. He's American who has Taiwanese descent.

Lin's game reminded me a bit of Steve Nash ... the ability to dribble into the paint and keep his balance as he puts up tough shots over shot blockers, as well as the court vision and the outside shot.

D'Antoni has a great opportunity to revive his Nash-Amare pick-n-roll offense if Lin can make the right reads off the pick-n-roll. That would make Carmelo a secondary threat in the offense, but that's what NY needs to do ... although I doubt if D'Antoni has the stones to reduce Melo's touches.

His dribbling yes, but as a shooter he is in another planet compared to Nash. As a pure shooter Nash is one of the absolute best the league has ever seen. Lin, with that weird release of his has a lot of work to do to catch that.

Okay now that I got that out of the way, the racism that exists in this country is an ethos controlled by the powers that be that everyone follows like lemmings.

It's not the fact that he's Asian, or that he can speak a foreign language, that he's getting this attention. Being in NYC handles that all itself. Lin just flat out balls. He ain't 5'7" 135 lbs. like Bruce Lee. He ain't 5'7" 147 lbs. like Manny Pacquiao. He's 6'0" 200 lbs. and at 1 time, He was first team All-State in California the year his team took the state title.

Kawhi Leonard was first team All-State his senior year as well. That means, that like Kawhi, Jeremy Lin had been recognized as an Elite Class Basketball player. It just so happens that he's Asian. Rather than see him as the baller he was coming out of California, most GM's and University programs saw him as an Asian guy. It's not that he's just Asian. It's that he's Asian and doesn't play for a Senior National Men's team like say China. We've seen the likes of Sun Yue wear a Laker Jersey on the bench. Who know, if Jimmy Buss had the balls to break convention, we'd be pissed off at the LAL again for doing what the Spurs do...find a diamond in the rough.

Thankfully, the powers that be(Power brokers like sports programs and other means of entertainment like TV & Movie Studios) they like to hold back things because to them, it's unusual and doesn't fit into their stereotypical box. They said, no one would support Bruce Lee as a lead in an American Movie and he made, in his own words, the fuckingest, most action-packed martial arts movie ever made. They say guys from Euroleague are soft, Manu Ginobili dunks in your face and says hello. They say PGs not from America don't understand the game and tempo like point guards from here, well...Tony Parker and Jose Calderon say Bon Jour and Hola! A German post player with 3 point range? Dirk says Gotten Himmel.

Okay....so when it gets to a point where we get inundated with highlight after highlight, it's because these players BREAK DOWN THAT GOTDAMN DOOR and say, we got skills.

Tony Parker once said that if the Spurs were actually the NY Knicks, that they would be treated like GODS. It's the effect that's happening now for Lin.

I don't think he's going to average 25 & 8 the whole season but it'd be funny AND cool to me if he became 1/3 of the new New York Knicks Big 3.
Tim Duncan's Spurs beat them in the last strike-shortened season in history. It'd be much more fun this year, if it happens. Odds ain't that bad with how well Silver & Black have beem playing. I mean really...Who is going to come out of the West? Are the LAL going to represent the West?
