Way to finish strong with the free throws. Great start to the trip. Not a perfect win, but a good win. Spurs gaining momentum on the road.

Wasn't pretty but we'll take the win. Duncan with a beast of a game.

TD was the hero tonight
Splitter (in only 20 min) and Parker (in stretches) also played very well

Great to see a 3-0 record against those Grizzlie bastards. On the other hand, great road victory considering Grizllies are one of the more dominant home teams.

Even TV league pass does this though. If LP ever became fully HD, and you get to choose which call for the game, AND you get pre and post game coverage from the call of your choosing, I would pay even more than the outrageous cost they want now.

Any win is great with Manu and Ford out. A road win against a potential playoff team is manna from heaven--with a little gritty defense thrown in.
Memphis only scored 84 but more importantly 11 in the 4th quarter while we scored 22.
we're pullin' it together, yeah!

I'm hoping with some extra days off, Spurs can get some practice time in and really work on TD/Tiago together.
It's just a matter of them getting comfortable and Pop trusting them. Some easier opponents coming up, I'm hoping Pop can experiment a little more...

Another solid performance by Kawhi on the defensive end.
Rudy Gay - 18pts on 9/26 FG
And the shots Rudy did make were tough contested jumpers you can't really do anything about. Grizz weren't even looking for their top scorer in the 4th anymore.

Bonner plays smart team defense for the most part and the other team isn't isolating on him, so he's not really a problem for now. As well as he's shooting he's a good decoy on the other end. The Grizzlies' front line isn't exactly in playoff form at the moment.

Tbh it's a great way to start the rodeo trip, tough win that keeps Pop and the team on their toes.
Even with that HORRIBLE third quarter, the Spurs hold them to 37.3% from the field, and 84 points. Pretty impressive on the road.

Decent D tonight, however, I did not like the assist numbers. Only 3 Spurs contributed to 14 of the 15 total assists. Credit Memphis for defending the arc well in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th quarters and keeping the pace slow...and without Tony Allen.

Of course it isn't. I'd rather have Leonard taking all his minutes. I'd rather have that guy who played college ball with Leonard taking all his minutes. Nobody's complained about Bonner more than I have, but if the other team's not able to isolate on him and score at will and he's not getting lost on defense then he's really not that high up on the list of problems.

We keep looking for reasons why Pop handles Tiago like this when it's simple; Pop isn't high on him and doesn't see him has a legit player that can help if given consistent big minutes. All Pop sees is his limitations and almost goes out of his way to either ignore Tiago or play down what he his capabilities are.

Did Tiago run over Pop's dog?
The interview of Pop after the game, he mentions every player stepping up (Bonner included) ,but not Tiago....6-7 from the field with very limited minutes. Seriously, I am at a loss.
Teams are beginning to double Tiago here and there, and he still makes the right play.
Great game by TD tonight.
Looks like Timmy got some retread on his wheels from BF Goodrich when he did that commercial?
To me, this was TD's best game of the season...17 boards and four blocks is very nice. TD looks spry right now. His movement and second jump look much quicker. Over the past three years TD has looked like he was playing with ankle weights on...not so the last two weeks.

RJ played decent defense tonight as well. He had a better floor game than his stats will show.
Pop's going to wait until the season is 90% over, and then insert Splitter into the starting lineup, like he did with McDyess last year.

It is simple. He won't play him next to Duncan unless the other team is playing two bigs together who can do damage down low. He doesn't think in terms of making the opposition match up with them, his concern is always matching up with the opposition. Tonight was a perfect example of that. The Grizzlies had Cunningham close at PF. He's undersized and not overly strong. Splitter easily could have had his way with him on the block. But -- to steal one of his favorite lines -- he doesn't think in those terms.
I still think there's a move coming to acquire a starting power forward, either through trade or post deadline buyout. But if not, eventually he'll probably relent and start Splitter. It probably wouldn't happen until their backs are up against the wall in the playoffs though.

What about when Pop played Timmy and Splitter together for 4 minutes there in the 4th with Gasol as the only Big over 6'8" for the Griz?

4 minutes?
3 1/2 or 4. Yeah. Davis was the Big for a little bit there, but then Gasol came back in for Davis. The Spurs didn't exactly flourish during those minutes with Duncan and Splitter paired but they were able to go up by a point.

Tonight in his interview with Sean and Bill, Splitter credited part of his success in working with Parker has been due to having Matt there to open the court up..
They're offensively a very good combination because Splitter's good at hitting him. I don't have too much problem with Bonner getting close to 100 percent of his minutes with Splitter.
The biggest problem with Bonner isn't games like tonight where he's finishing, it's when Pop takes a night like this and thinks it's appropriate for Bonner to finish a game against a front line that's abusing him.
