The Spurs have been linked to JR Smith since as far back as 04-05, so i'm sure there is some sort of interest. I highly doubt the Spurs would sign him unless they can get rid of RJ and I doubt JR would ever sign here in the first place. The Clippers is my bet with Billups out for the year. Trading RJ somehow and starting JR would be fine with me though. JR can knock down those corner threes when the game is on the line.

I agree, not to mention that JR could be that constant scorer like Ginoboli, but like you i can't see him signing with SA. He is definitely better than RJ in my opinion.

I don't want that guy on the team ... just see how Denver is flourishing without him ... Spurs are a team and JR Smith is an egoistical maniac ... his mood swings are inacceptable

Spurs have a history of rehabilitating players.

JR Smith would flourish in SATX.

No need to take a risk on Smith imo. I like the Ginoboli, Neal, and Green trio just fine.

He was good for us in 2003. We don't get out of game 6 in Dallas alive to get to the finals if it weren't for Stephen Jackson.

One of those banners hanging in the AT&T Center is largely thanks to him. There's your answer.

2 guard is our deepest position, JR Smith is the last thing this team needs to add. We need to strengthen the frontline before getting a luxury scorer with a bad attitude like Smith

Somewhere, George Karl is laughing at Vinny Del Negro.

*:lol I almost typed Testaverde instead of Del Negro.

In 2002-2003, Jackson was on the second year of a minimum salary contract that I'm not even sure was guaranteed. It's easy to rehab (control) players in that situation.

Would love to have him in a SPURS uniform...His number 23 is available.....Let's get him?...He has been tweeting about possibly joining Heat, Knicks, Clippers or Lakers....So I am told... No mention at all of the SPURS being in the mix....

Just what this team needs, another guard, while our frontline will be destroyed in the playoffs.

Watch the 2003 playoffs again and you'll work it out. ;)

Me too.

Yup, we sure don't need more wings. It'd be nice if TJ came back, and we could swap Grizz for a comparable player we can play with Bonner though - that would free up the front-court enormously.

JR Smith would be a disaster on this team. His selfishness and immaturity will not last in this ball club. He is another example of wasted talent.

Do we really need another guard? We are stacked at that position.

I'll pass, plus, his attitude/demeanor isn't worth it.

He would be a good fit with the Knicks or Clippers...

I think the frontcourt is where the help is need. TP and Manu can outplay most backcourts and with Neal rounding into form they should have enough fire power there.

I can't imagine how many three pointers he could make with the excellent spacing in Pop's system.

If Pop could handle his problems, i think he would be great in Spurs uniform.

This is a gamble.

Do we need gambling now? That's the question.

If you sign JR Smith then you have more flexibility to trade other players. That's one way to look at it.

Now that the knucklehead is headed to NY, any chance the Spurs go after Balkman? Now I haven't been watching too much of the Knicks despite Linsanity... but if he's a defensive upgrade over Blair, Pop could start Balkman next to Timmy then conceivably replace him with Tiago while Tim is still out there, and then rest Timmy with one of the "turd towers" alongside Tiago.

He could concentrate strictly on post D with the hope that, once Manu is fully reintegrated, the rest of the starters will have more than enough firepower to offset his offensive deficiencies.

Back to lurking for me.

Excellent. I'm not the only one that thought that Balkman as a Spurs might not be a horrible idea.

He has everything what we need. His contract is 3 years long and 4M+ per year.

I think Denver would like expiring contracts. We can send McDyess expiring and James Anderson in exchange. It would be a great ddition to team especially in defense.

Trade him for Bonner. The salaries probably match up.

It won't be because:
Bonner is the only front-court player who can shoot three. And Denver want to send Andersen becsause they've crowded employees in that position. Moreover they will want to need cap felibility too.
