dude is not very good...what do the spurs see in him?

crap, man, he's a 20-year-old who played one year of college ball. If TJ wasn't injured he'd be in Austin right now getting his work in.

And, yes, he can ball. He belongs in the NBA. He's shown that in his few extended appearances.

The jury is still out.

Has some potential, but he needs some serious time in Austin serving as "the man" to get a better idea of just how much. Frankly, he should have stayed in school.

The kid has some potential, but is pretty raw. It might take a couple years to develop him.

IMHO Corey has not shown consistent NBA potential. Yes, I realize he's young and was shoved into a role he may not be ready for. That said, opportunity sometimes knocks only once, and while he's shown he's decently capable, he hasn't shown he's a consistent backup.

If it wasn't for Ford's I doubt we ever would of seen CJ in a Spurs uniform this year.

I wouldn't expect too much from a 20 year-old late first round pick in a spectacularly weak draft tbh. If he can make the active roster for all of next season it will have been a decent pick.

his like every young rookie in the league who thinks he can ball, too streaky at times over dribbling...he should focus bring the ball up and setting the tempo for the bench, not tryin to get his and playin like a hero, we dont need that...we already got one, dont need another one....

he should be thankful, his gettin more minutes then JA this season so far

I'm still wondering why the Spurs of all teams drafted him.

needed a backup pg

when imo quinn and whoever that was on the team did a fine job just holding onto the ball....

couldve gotten another vet to run the team

Exactly. The Spurs don't play young players, the Spurs don't play rookies with pro experience, they don't give guys chances to make mistakes. If they needed a backup point guard now they should never have picked a freshman.

he needs to get two things, to be really NBA-worthy:

1) more confidence, which should come with playing time (maybe also in Austin when Manu/Ford come back)

2) he needs to keep the dribblings alive. is it just me, or does he stop his dribbling almost every time to early in search for a pass? I'm a PG too and my coach would kill me for that!

overall I really like him...he just seems to be a nice guy, with good work ethik. he will never be a starter, but I maybe a good backup-pg. he just needs some time.

are you really judging someone who should be a sophmore in college?

come on man.

He's like a dear in headlights out there.

The kid needs to step up and play his game, he's got the ability to be a George Hill type of player, unfortunately, his "on nights" have been about as good as Hill's "off nights" were... remember what those were like and everyone was crying for a more consistent George. Well, we got him, unfortunately, he's on the wrong side of the spectrum.

Kid really needs to gain confidence. It doesn't look like he's going to get it in the big show.... A DLeague demotion would serve him some good.

They picked TJ Ford.

No, they picked Joseph. Try to keep up. The Spurs didn't draft TJ Ford. Does someone need to explain to you the difference between the draft and free agency, or are you just being a twat again?

I think people are judging a professional basketball player, who was picked by a professional basketball team to be a professional basketball player.

I get that but he is still a rookie who is a project. No need to judge a his skill set yet.

EDIT: He's got a way to go but has shown some promising signs.

He hasn't shown much NBA potential to me. Seems like a D-League lifer...

It wasn't him being drafted that bothered me...it was he was given the 120% scale contract and NOT going to be an integral part of the team that I questioned.

Then found out his salary will be based on performance bonuses likely not to be met his first year.

So for the money...a young prospect to develop...the Spurs could have done worse. At least they didn't select yet another overseas player that wouldn't be able to develop within the team's system AND/OR not be with the team for another 2 to 3 years if at all.

I think we should all know better by now about judging the Spur's 1st round picks :/ give him some time

RC has a UT connection. I actually thought the Spurs reached with the Joseph pick.

Yeah the guy looks like he is 15 years old but I would say he does a serviceable job for someone who wouldn't even be getting anything but garbage minutes if it wasn't for TJ Fords injury. It is still waaaayyyyy to early to judge this guy.

He wasn't supposed to play in the NBA this season.

Tbh, it's funny how many of the same people who preach patience with Cory Joseph because he's so young still criticize Tony Parker for the 2003 Finals . . .

Yeah i think it is hurting him not being in D league right now were he would be playing instead of sitting on the Spurs bench.

David Thorpe's Analysis
February 02, 2012

Feb. 2: When I see Joseph, I think of a puppy, full of speed and energy, creating chaos for his team and sometimes the opponent. But I also see a nice jumper off the left-hand dribble and a nose for the ball on defense. His upside is considerable to be sure; yet another smart late first-round pick for the Spurs.

jimo2305
02-10-2012, 01:33 PM
ppl need to stop being ridiculous.. we know he has upside.. but he was drafted wayy to early.. and thrust onto the court before he was ready.. parker may have been in a somewhat similar situation but remember he still had pro experience..

i was even shocked when cory declared for the draft along with the other players that came out the same year.. outside aldridge and durant, tx longhorns are too damn overrated..
