Rewarded with some rest instead of playing a bullshit game would have been much better for the long run. IDGAF if he and timmy and anybody else makes the allstar game, the boys need a nice little break after the rodeo trip. This sux.

Widowmaker,

Even though the All-Star game is a glorified pick-up game....the players like being selected to it. It is an achievement and considering that TP has played in the shadow on Tim and Manu most of his career....it's nice for him to get this kind of recognition.

There are so many injuries this season that it could happen.

TP has not played in the shadow of Manu. He has been better than Manu.
More all star appearances and better stats and even a 2007 finals MVP.

Congrats to Tony. Well well deserved. Though I wouldn't haveminded having Tony play with a chip on his shoulder the rest of the season...

:nope Wow, Manu is even underrated amongst Spurs fans. Parker is great, but if we are going to talk accolades, Manu takes the cake.

Tim didn't want to go. Glad he gets to rest. AT this age, I think he sincerely would rather get the break.

Of course he has. He would tell you so himself. Some extra hardware doesn't change that simple fact.

Congrats to Tony. Well deserved recognition for the season he is having. If not for the shellacking he gave Russell Westbrook I don't think he would have gotten in.

Rascal,

TP has been the third wheel in the Spurs Trinity. I've always been a big supporter of TP. He has not been appreciated like he should have been.

But, you can't deny he has been in the shadow of Tim and Manu during his career. Sorry!

lol from who matters

Those that matter made Kobe Bryant an all-defensive first team last year.

Either way, congrats Tony. Well deserved.

This is great for us. TD got the rest and Tony got the recognition, and it actually helps us in playoffs.

For Tim, everyone knows and thinks he is a superstar. For Tony, in terms of basketball itself, obviously not a superstar, some might even think he is not a real star.

Like it or not, NBA refs favor the stars, so being an all-star will help Tony get some favorable calls in the playoffs.

Being named as an all star reserve is, frankly speaking, much more prestigious than being voted on as a starter by the masses.

Well deserved honor for Tony. I hope he has fun and does not get some silly injury.
As for the Manu vs. Tony debate, one of the things I love about the Spurs is that none of the Big 3 give a rats ass who has what award. They just work well together and are professional and friends.

Congrats to TP for a well deserved 4th all-star selection. :toast

Looking at the big picture, one of the positive of this selection is that it increases his odds at making the HOF. While I'm not a fan of the whole HOF concept, it would indeed be great to have a french player on it.

if pop went to tp more in the 4 and not manu spur fans would think tp is greater then manu
tp gets the team to the 4
tp now with manu injured is showing everyone he can carry the team in the 4

it is true most people in all sports blames what happens late in the game for the outcome of the game
in football missing the tying or winning field goal
in nba scoring points in the 4 or the player missing or making the game winner

It's good in that it gets Tony more exposure, Tim doesn't need that. To be quite honest, Tim was gifted an appearance last year.

I've always hated and dreaded these times when a player I really admire gets to this point in their career, but it's bittersweet; 4 championships for a team that never even made it to the Finals before he arrived. Congrats to Tony and here's to you Tim. :toast

I'm happy for TP (and Nash). I don't understand why Westbrook is designed. He's a scorer ok (without defence against him) and he's a TO machine.
Tonight 3 AST for 7 TO. He could not be on the spurs's bench. Turnovers stats are horrible !!
