Not all-time, just the past couple seasons.

Easily Dwight, no need to bait.

Dwight's shoulders are way oversized, but I'm not sure if that makes him a better defender than Timmy. Dwight looks like a giant kid though most of the time. Ugly mofo tbh.

Btw, Magua say he will make the gray hair suffer. Are you anti-pop or something? Just curious.

Dwight, Easily. Great Big man in prime vs Historically great big man in the final stages of his career.

Duncan is by far the better defender in his prime.

What good does comparing a 36 year old Duncan to a 26 year old Howard do?

Yeah poll is unbalanced and unfair.

You cant compared Tim and Dwight right now. It is painlyfully obvious that Howard has the edge right now no question.

So making an argument for Duncan being a better defender the past couple seasons is completely retarded?

Magua's wisdom comes from under the bridge where trolls dwell.

That's what I thought. A certain someone will not be pleased when he sees the responses in this thread:lol

All time would've been a better argument, though Duncan wins that one IMO. Right now, I'd definitely take Howard.

It's Howard but I voted for Duncan just to troll the obvious troll attempt.

If you compare Duncan at 26 to Howard at 26, Duncan one on one would eat Dwight alive. Both ends of the court.

At 35, Timmy still holds his own against the better players in the NBA. Not the GOAT defender, but there are a lot of players who wish they were as good as TD.

True.

Or maybe comparing the first few years etc would have been a better attempt as well.

I agree with this whole post......IMO, Tim Duncan is one of the top 5-10 defenders ever.

If the guy is Duncan, don't come a knocking cause Tim is king.

As said above - easily Dwight.

However, if you want an argument - it's beyond rigoddamndiculous that Howard has 3 DPOY awards and Timmy has 0.

Wtf? Thats like asking who is the better floor general, Jason Kidd or Chris Paul?

Absolutely true. It's also a telling number that Duncan has 2 MVPs (both of which he won by the time he was 26) and Howard has 0.

Tim at the rim, Dwight in space. Tim is taller, has long arms, and never leaves his feet against a small. He just pins the damn shot against the rim or glass, and collects a ridiculous percentage of them. What good is it to swat a shot into the 4th row and give the ball back to the offense?

…As [Huizinga] explained, through a series of charts, Tim Duncan has had the best season in history when it came down to value/block with 1.12, meaning he saved 1.12 points with every block and Dwight Howard ended up with the worst season in terms of value/block with with .53 (both came during the 2008 season).

Howard's just a shotblocker, Tim was a great shotblocker & post defender.

David Robinson was like a mix between DH and Tim. He had the athleticism as well as the defensive bbiq.

Good point. There are times it helps to send a message by sending a shot flying into the seats but if you do that on every shot the message gets diluted.
