Lol. Obviously the winning bidder will be a rich dude without a care in the world for money, since this card will be worth about a grand in a year's time.

Some people are insanely jealous of others success. Sure it's crazy, but no need to hate at someone actually doing something with their life.

:lol I know you do, but some people who are below average in life and self confidence really do hate. No problem joking about how crazy it is, but to spew hate and start threads over and over is beyond pathetic IMHO.

No not you at all. This is where I decided to say something, but it's not you. It's the pathetic losers calling him a ch**k and wanting him to fail and starting threads about him in a racist fashion that are the cowards.

There are a couple posters who are truly sad individuals and it likely means they have severe inadequacies in real life.

You're right.
But I also can see many of racist love Jeremy Lin and they are struggling when self-conflict begins within themselves. This is good for the racists.
They will open their hearts and learn how to widen their mind to accept others and foreign cultures.

Based upon the large wholesale deals I have done in the past, if someone broke this inventory up into similar lots they could fetch upwards of $11 MILLION USD. ( That is $11,000,000.00 USD)

Is a Jeremy Lin rookie card rare or what?
It's the card, tbh...it's a 20/25 autographed jersey card. Ungraded, it's worth $6000, and it's graded 9.5 out of 10. Not to mention Linsanity, it's just crazy. Someone's taking advantage of it, tbh. Nothing I wouldn't do. Out of hand? Absolutely. Though I would say the difference between this story and Tebow is that Lin is a lot more talented. Though he really needs to work on his ball handling.

tbh if you look at what he's selling, if you have a serious card collector (which I don't know anyone who still actually does that) you might actually get someone who would spend that...there's a card in there from 1887 for crying out loud. There's a Babe Ruth card, and some others. It's not just about Lin.

Did you see the list? There's over 2 million items in the inventory..a decent amount of them are autographed. Not to mention a SHITload of game used jerseys by some major superstars. 11 mill? Not sure, but if you catch the right collector at the right time, possibly. I damn sure wouldn't...but you never know. That's the thing about sports cards, a card might be worth a lot of money, or not worth a shit, depending on who you bring it to. That's why ebay's the right place to take it...you might get lucky and find that one person. Tbh, I wouldn't be surprised to see it get sold. Besides, he's selling it for $1 mill...not 11.

Someone is self conscious. I literally haven't mentioned anyone by name. I also haven't said a single word to a certain real life loser of a poster since I said I wouldn't.
Lol, you can probably get an MJ rookie card for that price
You can get a Mantle Rookie 52 Topps in fair condition for not much more.
Fucking rookie cards made after the early 80's are damn near worthless, with a very few exceptions, because everyone and their brother started making them. I remember the Upper Deck "platinum" or some shit. Beckett (what a scam) would always list cards for about 3x what you could get for one, and they would say a certain card that was still being sold was worth more than the complete set sometimes. Absolutely bullshit but people were buying that crap.
I wouldn't give 20K for Jeremy Lin, much less his card.

Serious collectors don't buy during the hype. Lin's story is interesting, but in a year his card will be worth a buck or less and serious collectors know there will be a billion cards of him.
I've never seen a serious collector interested in cards from active players.

the listed ebay description on the lin rookie card-
"The hype: The most amazing part of all this hype is that the NBA hasn't even begun the endorsements for Jeremy Lin yet! Once Lin shoes, Lin billboards and Lin commercials begin, we may see a phenomenon like never before. This has barely begun to scratch the surface. "

Chinese folks allowed to bid on eBay? I would bet it's them paying this much for crap worth a couple hundred at best.

100% correct.

Then you aren't that big into the hobby. Active player collecting makes up at least 80% of the hobby.

I think we're talking about two different types of collectors.
I'd say that other than Jeter, Pujols and Lebron, active players aren't that high up on the totem pole for collectors and even then only select cards.
I am not talking about people trying to complete a 1987 Donruss set.
I don't doubt that 80% of the collectors collect mostly active players, because most people who consider themselves collectors (not dealers) cannot afford the premier cards.

I'm not talking about the Lin card...I'm talking about the other post..the one for $1,000,000.00, which includes the Lin jersey. I'm saying that price is not about the jersey, it's about the 2 million piece collectible set that guy has...it's probably the sickest collection I've ever even heard of.

Something like that would likely need to go through appraisal and Sotheby's tbh.

prolly..but the problem is with things like this, it's all based on what you can get for it. That's why everyone goes through Ebay now for shit like this. Someone just might come in there and pay what the seller wants. With all the pieces, I would assume someone who wipes his ass with $100 bills and loves sports memorabilia would do it...it just might happen.

Well, everything is based on what you can get for it. That's what appraisal and auctions are for.
I don't see someone spending a mil over Ebay for an unseen collection.
It's to get attention to his items.

yeah...agreed. But if that collection is real, I could see some crazy sports collector spotting a mil for it.

Not me. It would be an investor. Collectors have targets, they don't just want someone's collection.
