View Full Version : Poll : Will Tony Parker have a triple double before his NBA career ends ?

Seeing Joakim Noah got a triple double last night (second French player after Boris Diaw), I was wondering if Tony would get one in his career. He certainly needs to crash the boards more.
A triple-double surely looks good, but TP is already in the history books by becoming the very first European to win Finals MVP.

If "maybe" were an option I would have checked that. To me...Parker is not a "board crasher" per say and shouldn't be expected to be one just to garnish a 3D.

Parker got 10 boards 3 times (career high) and each time he scored in double digits, but didn't get enough assists. He also had 8 boards 11 times. Given that his minutes are increasing and that his assists are way up (getting double-doubles on a regular basis at the moment), it's only a matter of time before he gets a triple-double. But it's obviously not something that will happen often, as he seems to max out around 6-7 rebounds most of the time.

Side track a bit, how many technicals does parker has? I was wondering about this when rondo was suspended for 2 games.

I'm going to say possible but unlikely. It's been five years since he had a double digit rebounding game in the regular season(he had one in the playoff four years ago). More minutes this season hasn't yielded more rebounds either. In the 13 games where he has played 36 minutes or more he only managed to get halfway there or better 4 times. His season high...7 boards...came in 44 minutes of play. Furthermore, he only managed to get double digit assists in five of those games. Hard to see him finding a way to make both happen.
It's probably going to take some sort of extenuating circumstances...like a double overtime game...for him to get it. If we are talking regulation I'm going to say no.

He can get 10 pts and 10 ast easily, but he has to start at C to grab 10 rbs and his opponent should do what Chris Paul did in the last seconds of the last game spurs against cilppers

Parker is such a high usage player, is playing bigger minutes than usual, and has shown consistent improvement with his passing, that he'll have a magic night one of these days where it all comes together and happens.
Will it happen often? No. May only ever happen once. But, I'd say before he retires it'll occur.

Nope.
Steals will never happen because he does not gamble, he tries to stay in front of his man.
Rebounds will never happen mainly because he finds open lanes for an outlet pass when the ball is shot defensively. Offensively he has been spending time underneath after drives, or waiting deep enough to get back quickly if others shoot.
If the highly unusual did occur it would be reb. but I just cant see it.

he could also have a bad turn over night sometime, and get it that way

Getting more rebounds would help the team and his game since he's so fast with the ball.

If turnovers, ball hogs, and bad passes count, then yes he will.
I dont think he will get rebounds when needed. Spurs are great defensive rebounding team, but rebounds are divided by whole team. Many board are catched by SF/SG. And Parker isnt PG who will jump and fight for boards.
He is not a rebounder at all! and just don't think he will ever get 10 steals.

Never gotten close. If he gets it...it will be with rebounds/assists.

Manu Ginobili has never had a triple double, tbh.

And Duncan has "only" three (and an extra one if turnovers count :lol). But let's not get away from some undeserved Parker-bashing...
