Did anyone else see this interview during the second quarter?

http://knicksnow.com/videos/646/melo-live-from-all-star#bottom_tabs

The towel over his mouth, won't even talk about the Knicks and tries really hard to avoid anything about Lin. Is mad about how well the team has done without him or is he just too proud to except the team did better without him.

I don't understand why he didn't say that they'll be better in the second half after they get some chemistry, or at least something to that effect.

Thoughts?

Neither of your options are the correct answer IMO..

He's just annoyed by the constant questions about his game, and the implication that he's a cancer, which seems to be the tone of every reported that speaks to him..

I'm a Melo hater, btw, I'm not defending him here..

Much like the all-star game itself and most of the all-star weekend, I think its him simply not taking the interview seriously. I wouldnt be surprised if he was alittle jealous of Linsanity but in this particular interview he doesnt really come off like that.

I saw nothing wrong with his responses. He's tired of being asked about Lin all the damn time. It was the all start weekend and he was trying to enjoy himself.

Like other stars, he has a huge ego. He's historically underachieved, maybe more so than any other player his caliber in the league not named TMac. He knows this. He doesn't want to hear about a bench player who rescued the Knicks. He's answered every conceivable question regarding this situation. At that moment, he just wanted to pretend he's considered with Wade, Lebron and the rest. After all, he did recover just in time for the AS game.

Hmmm, must have just been me. I thought he came off weird. Everyone else interviewed during the game was asked the same question about the second half of the season and answered it directly. Blake said they needed to focus on defense more, Paul said "hold on we're just leading the division at the break".

I just found Craig Sager pulling the towel off his face awkward and funny as hell at the same time. :lol

underachieved as what? the teams he faced in the first round in the west all went on to either rep the west or won the finals...

Melo is Glen Robinson. Period. He hasn't underachieved. He is exactly where a ball hogging 3 who doesn't play defense generally pans out in the NBA...

Great comparison tbh. Forgot about Robinson.

This is dead on. Nice job.

Strangely enough, Glenn Robinson's defense was actually an important part of winning a Finals game (game 1 of the 05 Finals) and thus a title. Can't see Carmelo ever doing that tbh.

Keep in mind: Big Dog had an ego. He was the man on those Bucks teams that A) Almost made it to the finals and B) subsequently imploded the next season.

Once he was willing to sign with the Spurs at the end of his career, even he realized he was not going to be the number 1 option... What else could he contribute other than defense at that point in his career?

Glenn Robinson is tough, can play D and is a decent rebounder but slow for a small forward.
I think of Carmelo more as a taller Mitch Richmond.

Underachieved as the franchise player. The expectations of him were much higher than what he's done, and NY is just the latest.

He knew Craig would bring up Lin as he probably has been asked a thousand times this All star weekend.

Well shouldn't he? He wanted to be traded to NY and got his wish. Then the biggest cinderella ever in the NBA hits right before all star weekend.

Not to mention his team is currently in better shape. Amare seems happy. I'd personally like to seethe knicks get in the playoffs

This is true. Melo wanted the limelight and the attention, now he doesn't.
