RG won the Heisman, VY maybe should have...

I think VY was/is better, yet I find it funny that NFL teams/scouts seem to be clamoring over RG while VY seems destined to be a backup for the near foreseeable future.....

VY won a title.

VY also had a nice defense behind him.

Vince Young is the best college player of all time, I do think RG3 will be a better pro though.

VY was a man amongst boys. Unstoppable on the field. RGIII was not unstoppable. I do agree that RGIII has more potential to be a better pro.

Tim Tebow also deserves to be mentioned.

National Title > Heisman

Love RGIII, but Vince was a whole different animal. His elusiveness, combined with his size and his knack for coming up big in winning time sets him apart from everyone.

I am glad I'll finally have a cover boy of the NCAA games I can tolerate.

I would say Griffin.. think he will be a better pro as well. Fans tend to forget the talent vyoung had around him; was not a one man show.

So basically, you are stating that you need talent around you to win a national championship?

Wonderful insight you provide here :toast

Sorry, but VY is the most dominant QB to ever play college football. Yeah, he had a GREAT team, but it still doesnt change the fact that he accounted for over 400 yards of offense and almost all the TDs Texas scored in the NC game. If you replace VY with Griffin, Texas loses that game, no question.

Griffin will likely be a better pro QB, but it's hard to find QBs in college that are flat out better than VY was in college. He may not have as accomplished of a resume as some, such as Tim Tebow, but there is no questioning his ability to completely take over a game in a way perhaps no QB has ever been able to do.

I think the only reason people would say RGIII is because he is obviously the more talented individual out of the 2 and it's hard not to see that. That doesn't mean that he was a better college quarterback though.

This.

He is definitely a more natural passer than VY, and that should certainly help him at the pro-level to be more successful than Vince. But in college, that passing ability isn't nearly as important. Vince's ability was more than sufficient, and good enough for him to be the most statistically efficient passer in the nation his junior season. Griffin is no slouch of a runner, but still just not as dominant in general as VY was.

The only reason RGIII is going to be a better pro QB than Vince is because Vince Young the EGO got in the way of Vince Young the QB.

Vince lost his window to be a great NFL QB because he couldn't shelve his ego long enough to see what it was doing to his career.

Would def. say that RG3 would be my dream qb in todays game.

BUT Young was just magical........no one can deny that.
