The two games above shit on just about any game that ever came out on that console, yes even better than that nerd-happy smash bros game.

N64 Goldeneye (multiplayer) is the best game EVER created. tbh I liked WWF Royal Rumble for SNES better than that N64 game. Other classics were NHL 94 (SNES), Turtles in Time (SNES), and NBA Jam (Sega).
Not as old, but Soul Calibur on Dreamcast kicked ass too

I was a PlayStation kid, so I had Final Fantasy and stuff to play. I only started playing N64 (using ROMS) after it stopped being relevant. I played Mario Party, Golden Eye, and a few other games. I never played Ocarina of Time, which is considered to be one of the better games ever by lots of people.

It's not that old (98 or 99) but I still play it occasionally. I also got this combo disk with tons of Sega Genesis games for 360. I played Sonic, Streets of Rage, and Golden Axe for weeks
I couldn't play Goldeneye without the gameshark. Paintball mode, DK mode, slow-mo mode, fast-mo mode, too much fun. Also playing the missions with invisibility. It would be crazy to actually be able get right up to Jaws and just stare at him. I would have it tied with Halo: CE as the greates FPS of all time

Near the top. Earthworm Jim 2 remains on my list of top 5 video games of all formats/eras.
This is a thread for vintage video games, but if you were an Earthworm Jim 2 fan Rayman Origins is worth checking out. The oddball sense of humor is different, as is the challenge level, but it scratches the same itch. First platformer I've found in the last couple of console generations that has felt like what I'd imagine an updated Earthworm Jim game would/should be.

So was I. SEGA took over the market in 1992... I was in 2nd grade. So over doing the Mario & his buddies thing. SEGA was edger and successfully advertised as ''cooler''
Due to the Genesis' head start, much larger library of games, and lower price point,[54] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-Kent_434_448_449-57) it was able to secure an estimated 60% of the American 16-bit console market by June 1992.[55] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-58) Sega's advertising continued to position the Genesis as the "cooler" console, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7meLcpdfpxY)[54] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-Kent_434_448_449-57) and at one point in its campaign, it used the term "Blast Processing" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlulSyBI2aY) (the origin of which is an obscure programming trick on the console's graphics hardware[56] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-retrogamer-59)) to suggest that the processing capabilities of the Genesis were far greater than those of the SNES.[57] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-1up-60) A Sony focus group found that teenage boys would not admit to owning a Super NES rather than a Genesis.[58] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-61) Neither console could maintain a definitive lead in market share for several years, with Nintendo's share of the 16-bit machine business dipping down to 37% at the end of 1993,[59] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-62) Sega accounting for 55% of all 16-bit hardware sales during 1994,[60] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-63) and Donkey Kong Country paving the way for the Super NES to win the waning years of the 16-bit generation.[61] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-64)[62] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-65)[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-Farm-1) According to a 2004 study of NPD sales data, the Sega Genesis was able to maintain its lead over the Super NES in the American 16-bit console market.[63] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-66)
In Europe the Mega Drive maintained support until 1998,[32] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-ConsoleInfo-35) where it managed to sell 8 million units,[8] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-CVG-10) outselling all other consoles up through that time.[32] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-ConsoleInfo-35) The Mega Drive also saw success in Brazil, where it held 75% of the market share.[32] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sega_Genesis#cite_note-ConsoleInfo-35)

Speaking of Wolfenstein...I remember playing the hell out of ROTT back in high school. Our computer science teacher was a younger guy and he loaded it on all the computers(it had just come out earlier that year) and would usually let us play for 10-15 minutes at the end of class. Sometimes he'd give us free days on Friday and we could play all class long. Dude was cool as hell.

He was pretty geeky tbh. He bragged about his surround sound setup he had at the house complete with subwoofers when playing DOOM. Said he sit there with all the lights off so he could get the full effect. :lol
He let us get away with a lot so I wasn't complaining.

That NES Ninja Turtles was garbage.
Indeed, that first one was shit, but the second and third games on there were beat 'em classics for the platform, as was Hyperstone Heist for the Genesis. For some reason Turtles in Time always gets a mention from the SNES owners, but HH gets forgotten by the Sega crowd.
Glad to see that someone mentioned Crystalis as well. That, Dragon Warrior, and the original Legend of Zelda were old favorites of mine and thanks to the magic of NES emulators are ones that I've revisited in the last year or so.
On the Sega side of things, Shining Force 2 and 3 were some pretty sweet strategy RPGs, paving the way for Vandal Hearts and FF: Tactics (two of my favorites from the Playstation Era).
Gotta mention Streets of Rage 2. It was mostly a Final Fight rip off, but it was a damn fine one.
http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cMHe0ZH9osU/TmFDZy13ozI/AAAAAAAAAtc/f8we49lIR1M/s1600/Streets_of_Rage_2_Genesis_box.jpg
Then there was Rock n Roll Racing, which was just RC Pro Am on Steroids and digitized versions of songs like Born to Be Wild. Like SoR2 it didn't invent the genre, but it was one of the best refinements of the formula.
http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/1169/213037-ss01.jpg
And then there was Zombies Ate My Neighbors, which went down in history as one of the few games to ever best the combined efforts of me and my brothers.

most difficult game ever
Damn, this thread is the goods. So many memories. Who needed a childhood?
I've recently been busting out my emulators....I've played all the way through Zelda, most of Zelda 2, Link to the Past, Super Mario 3, Contra, Mega Man 3, Rock & Roll Racing (didn't do the hardest difficulty, so got screwed out of the last level), Sonic 2. Currently working on Super Metroid (lost) and Super Castlevania (stuck).

One of my proudest moments was the single time I beat level 3 on this flurking game. Then I found out that level 4 is actually MORE difficult...

I remember there was a glitch in this game, where if you did a fake FG and pitched it to the kicker, the opposing team couldn't tackle you until you crossed the line of scrimmage. So we would just run around in the backfield, and wait for all the defenders to start diving and missing, and then run the ball in for a touchdown. :lol

Old school basketball games sucked for the most part. Double Dribble had a glitch where you could hit a three from the baseline every time if you timed it right. Bulls vs Blazers had one spot about 40 feet out where you could not miss (I'd beat my friends like 400-50 on it, lol). NBA Live 99 you could use the flagrant foul button to knock people over if they didn't have the ball without getting called, so your opponent could basically never pass.
