Report: Mavericks’ Lamar Odom Likely To Play Rehab Stint In D-League

Speculation continues to abound about Lamar Odom’s future, or lack thereof, with the Dallas Mavericks. Here’s the latest: ESPN’s Marc Stein reports that Odom is likely to play at least one game with the Mavericks’ D-League affiliate in nearby Frisco to “get his legs back under him.”

Odom is expected to practice with the Texas Legends on Friday afternoon and play Saturday, at home against the Austin Toros. Meanwhile, the Mavs’ big club plays at New Orleans on Friday night. The team has already announced that Odom won’t make the trip.

A source told Jeff Caplan of ESPN Dallas that there’s “a growing feeling in the locker room that Odom might not return at all.”

Odom's always been his own worst enemy. Dude is immensely versatile and talented but is such a mental trainwreck. He badly needs to be on an SSRI if he's not already.

^No. We've yet to suffer the trough of the loss of Odom. His problems since leaving us does not feather our nest, nor alleviate the blame.

Our debt to Odom remains unpaid.

Not really because if the failed trade had never happened and Lamar never knew he was expendable he would've never had a mental breakdown and asked to be traded and would probably be playing fine in LA. Dude has a massive vagina, should've known when he was campaigning extremely hard to be an AS last season (like the fans are gonna vote him as a starter :lol ) and acted like a bitch when he didn't get it, which he didn't deserve it anyway

Son, we all know this nigga is mentally weak as they come, but it's been well documented that he's been dealing with issues before the CP3 trade fiasco. Something about his cousin's death really affecting him. He was "emotionally distraught" over that apparently. In hindsight, i'm very much happy to have the TPE, his salary off the books, and a first round pick as a opposed to this dude mailing it in and/or not playing drama queen bullshit, tbh.

Odom is more concerned about his LA Kardashian show connection than basketball. He's a professional player, just not a professional one.

Also, 6th man of the year normally goes to a team who has a serious deficit in their starting line up, so that the bench guy comes in and gets heavy minutes to make up for it, and he's often playing against the other team's bench. 6th man is still a quality player, starting material, but you don't normally see these on teams with strong starting units just like you wouldn't see the silly ass Tebow or Lin shit if those two teams had decent players in that position to begin with.

Dallas Mavericks Assign Lamar Odom to NBA D-League Affiliate Texas Legends

NEW YORK, March 2, 2012 – The Dallas Mavericks today assigned forward Lamar Odom to the Texas Legends, the Mavericks’ NBA Development League affiliate. The assignment marks the 41st time an NBA player has been assigned to his NBA D-League affiliate during the 2011-12 season and is the first assignment for Odom in his 13-year career.

Odom (6-10, 230, Rhode Island) has appeared in 32 games, four starts, for the Mavericks this season, averaging 7.7 points and 4.5 rebounds in 21.4 minutes. He has missed the team’s last three games due to personal reasons.

The 2011 NBA Sixth Man of the Year, Odom was traded to the Mavericks from the Lakers prior to the start of the 2011-12 NBA season. He has appeared in 861 NBA games, averaging 14.4 points and 8.7 rebounds for his career. A two-time NBA Champion with the Lakers (2009, 2010), Odom played with the USA National Team in the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Originally selected with the fourth overall selection of the 1999 NBA Draft by the Los Angeles Clippers, Odom was selected to the NBA’s All-Rookie First Team in 2000 and played in the NBA Rookie Challenge that same year.

Mavericks fans can stay in step with Odom, who is expected to join the Legends today and be available when the team hosts the Austin Toros tomorrow at the Dr. Pepper Arena by logging onto nba.com/futurecast to watch all of Texas’ games live, online, for free.

First through third year players can be assigned otherwise.

The Mavs org. should not have lied. They said Odom left the team for personal reasons due to illness in his family. Now Carlisle humilates him in the press this evening.

Seriously, people wonder why there's so much imbalance in the league. When players would rather quit than play outside of LA, NY or Boston (Miami as well now), it's never going to get better.

^The free market system is pesky and bothersome, D.
For the money, I say it is, but I wouldn't have it any other way. It is what it is, but all the banter about changing it is just smoke and mirrors.

You give a rookie a few million dollars, a 90 million dollar shoe contract and whatever else and suddenly he's the one calling the shots. They want to buddy up with their crew (fucking Olympics and FIBA games) and basically take a huge shit on the league. It's not new, not at all, but it's always going to keep the NBA eons behind the NFL. Damn near any team can win in the NFL, but not in the NBA. The NBA is too much about a dominant presence that remains that way for half a decade or so, and then another that does it, then back to the first. The other teams, for the most part, are indeed the Washington Generals.
