Some will put other centers above David Robinson but he started most of the time for a reason for two consecutive dream teams - at that time he was the best in the league outside of the Dream. He deserves to be in the top 5 regardless how they are ranked above him.

1) Jordan
2) Johnson
3) Bird
4) Robinson
5) Charles B
6) Malone
7) Stockton
Whatever

was the question asking all-time? in their primes or at the time of those Olympics?

All-time Magic is just after MJ but during those Olympics Barkley was probably the second best player on that team ... Magic was the leader though. He got everyone involved ...

Take away his college loss, David was one of the better international players. And he was the best center on that team. His speed made him the perfect running mate for Stockton and Magic. His main issue comes to his playoff failures and a perception for playing soft, despite his ripped physique.
What's crazy Tebow, Lin and Kurt Warner are lauded for their faith, but for some reason David gets ridiculed for his which does not help the soft perception. To me, he is definitely below Olajawon but he compares favorably with Ewing or young shaq. I think baketball purists wished (kinda like Lebron) he had developed a more traditional low post game.

Was going to ask the same thing. I agree that Barkley was the second best player during that 92 Olympics.

I just wished Robinson developed a better point guard.

During his prime, the one year he had a PG who could actually shoot playing next to him (his rookie year), he scored 24.3 ppg on 55.3% shooting and pulled down 12 rebounds a game (matching or bettering his regular season #s).

The Spurs in the mid 90s were sort of like the Suns team of the mid 00s. Fantastic during the regular season, feasting on undisciplined team who does not have much of a game plan based on pure talent and athleticism of their main guy(s), but just cannot compete when the opposing teams have the time to prepare and the discipline to execute.

That's a great post/list. I may have some quibble with the order but the question is complex when you consider peaks vs. career vs. that Dream team.

Thomas and Nique were both great players but wasnt Nique coming off injury? Or am I wrong?

We all know Mj was behind Thomas being left off and Magic did not fight for his kissing buddies inclusion either. Two of the GOATS but they did Isiah dirty behind some petty bullshit. And Thomas is one of the most slept on greats of that era. Not saying he is underrated but the guy led two championship teams and his name hardly comes up when posters here post their all-time ranks. sometimes even the Pistons fans on here undervalue him ...

Everyone calls out Kobe, Lamar, Wade and Lebron when they act bitch made, but even the greats from my favorite era (80's) had some sensitive ass female tendencies.

Laettner just finished his college career and I think Team USA wanted to include one college player on the team. I believe the Olympic women's team still does that. If anything, it's more appropriate to say lol at Laettner over Shaq.

The idea of including Laettner, back in the day was because he was a winner at Duke, and has the outside game to open up the floor in international ball.

Shaq, Mourning, or even Grant Hill, as a sophomore (I think) would have been better choices at that point. But that is pretty much hindsight, as Laettner was the golden boy back in the day. He was supposed to be the next Bird or some crazy crap like that.

But like lefty said

Laettner is arguably the greatest CBB Player of All Time.

At the moment....I see no issue

Both Shaq and Isiah took that shit personal. It was a PR move because the opportunity to represent the country was taken away from the collegians. But it does not change the fact Isiah was the biggest snub. Isiah has more rings than anyone on that list outside the holy trinity Pippen. Not that rings are EVERYTHING, before this turns in to one of those team accomplishement bullshit arguments ... But for me rings are why I consider Duncan and Kobe the way I do. Without rings Kobe and Duncan are still great players but they would be ranked differently.

Certainly the best CBB player of his era and, personally, the best I've ever seen.
