What are the NBA Forum's opinions on Bill Simmons?

He's one of the best NBA and NFL writers, particularly in the entertainment sector..his podcast is a good listen..however, he has progressively declined in quality, since turning mainstream, which is usually expected, tbh..

He's still the number one NBA guy I would read, although I'm not a fan of most sports writers, to be fair..

His draft write ups are pretty good. Best and worst thing about him is that his fanboy bias is readily admitted rather than most journalists who at least try to hide it.

Completely agree. He does at times go TOO Boston (for non North-East fans) but no other city could match Boston sports success the past 5-10 years so he is technically reporting on what's ''important''

He is entertaining, but I agree he has declined with age. I think he is good on the NFL, but really does love hoops. His regular readers bitch all the time about him doing too many NBA columns or mailbags ...

Im also amazed at how much reality TV he watches. This guy is at one moment hip (he was one of the champions of the Wire as the greatest show ever) and a flaming vagina that watches the Bachelor and Jersey Shore ...he is interesting nevertheless.
Read his BOB it's pretty good ... but to his credit he both admires and loathes Kobe for ALL the right reasons, not just because he is a Celtics homer. Also agree he doesnt hide or defend his biases like WOJ does against Lebron or abbott with Kobe. If you are ever bored his old stuff like watching Top Gun as soft core gay porn or his Ewing theory and Manning face is quoted by plenty of others ...

His voice is girlishly funny. His written work is generally amusing. I have no problem with his bias because of the fact he doesn't try to pretend he's impartial and/or try to hide it. At least you know where he stands and can take some of his opinions with a grain of salt because of that.

He's entertaining, but the boston wankfest is too much at times--but then again i have a deep-seated hatred for chowds.

HH is right about his quality declining, but his emailers still make his column hilarious--much like callers and emailers make the jim rome show hilarious.

He'd be awesome if he didn't keep talking about his fucking dad.

Ryen Russilo makes him look amateur when it comes to NBA analysis though. I do like the fact he's an unashamed gambler, especially with football.

that's very true. though I agree with Abbott's Kobe hatred, I think he backs it up well. Also, Abbott is pretty open about his Blazer homerism (:lmao tlong).

He hasn't declined with age; he's declined because he started living in LA. Still a good writer with the pulse on what most Boston fans think, but not as good as he used to be.

I have no issue with him challenging Kobe's clutch decisions but he claims to be a Guy using stats to debunk a myth ...why does he ALWAYS rely on Kobe for the subject matter? If he really wants to prove his theory he needs to be less Kobe obsessed his blog is good but he always talks Kobe, but claims to like him ... yeah right.

Don't blame l.a. that is a cop out. He had 2 kids and made a pot more money that has softened him more than anything else, when he was The Boston Sports Guy and did more Mailbag columns he was great

I'll give him credit for being open about being a Boston homer. I can't stand Boston teams but if I had the same forum as he does I'd be just as big a homer for my city and my teams, so I can't hate.

And I usually laugh at least once when I read his columns. He's entertaining, I'll give him that.

Haven't really read enough of his stuff lately to have an opinion on whether or not he's declined and to what degree. Liked "The Book of Basketball," although typically of Simmons there's some stuff in there that made me wonder WTF he was talking about.

Be honest Dale, how difficult was it to decide between LA and Boston when you abandoned Cleveland? I mean, back in those days Boston was still pretty damn strong. You must have walked the floor many a night over that one.
