I'm from NC and am a huge Carolina fan...but how this dude Zeller got through four years at Chapel Hill without gathering a clue about playing defense is beyond me.

UNC lost that Duke game on Austin Rivers' buzzer three-ball because Zeller didn't even bother to raise a hand.

Memo to Zeller: You're seven feet tall. Put your hands up, fool.

Zeller runs the floor well and has a couple of post moves (meaning a couple more than a telephone pole). But other than that, he's soft, doesn't block shots, and is a matador on D.

Disappointed to hear you describe this guy as soft, thought he could be a good player for us to trade up for. Hits a good percentage on free throws, does he have any kind of mid range game?

So he is basically the new Spencer Hawes ?

We had his brother in camp. He surprised by surviving the cut ahead of others. He is with the Austin Toros. Played at Norte Dame.

If the Spurs trade Splitter in a George Hill type deal, targeting Zeller makes some sense. Ready to play, could slide in to Splitter's role and the Spurs got a closer look at the Zeller family last year.

I wouldn't love it but it'd make financial sense, at least.

pop needs to let go of whatever grudge he has
and start playing splitter more then 12 minutes and not doing stupid things like calling timeouts when splitter has a smaller player switched onto him which he did numerous times during the reg season

the splitter who was demanding the basketball from TP will be way better then this kid

-Speaking of Tyler Zeller, he was clearly one of the most impressive big men prospects in this study, as he not only shouldered a fairly heavy offensive load (14.4 possessions per game, 7th among the 26 evaluated), but did so very efficiently (1.086, 4th best). He ranks as the second most efficient scorer (1.673) in transition situations after Meyers Leonard, despite seeing twice as much usage in that category.

Zeller saw the third most possessions in this study with his back to the basket, and drew fouls at the 4th best rate once there. While not taking all that many jump-shots (just under one per game), he ranked as the 4th best shooter among the 26 big men, at a solid 1.031 points per shot.

His versatility will clearly be an asset for him in the NBA.
