meh..even if it does get close enough, it'll break down in the atmosphere.

If it misses you can best believe Toby Keith will write a song about it.

Please hit us.

In the event of a collision, scientists have calculated that the energy released would equate to the destructive power of a thermo-nuclear bomb.

“The asteroid may split into pieces entering the atmosphere. In this case, most part of it will never reach the planet’s surface,” remarks Dunham.

One the size of a small house is enough to level an entire city.

"The asteroid happened to hit Tehran at 12:45 last night. Due to an unfortunate technical glitch, all satellite cameras were pointed in the wrong direction, and no images of the event are available."

Not a rock that big. It will not hit earth, it may come as close as 17,000 miles. However, if it did hit us, it would be catastrophic.

No, asteroid 2012 DA14 will not hit us next year (http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2012/03/04/no-asteroid-2012-da14-will-not-hit-us-next-year/)

We're not overpopulated.

We need more people, actually. It is our only hope as a species.

Didn't Neil DeGrasse Tyson say there would be one hitting us in the future? They discovered that one would be hitting us, but he said no one would have to die since we know when it's going to hit, we can evacuate people... I think he said it would hit the Pacific and the West coast would be the only ones affected.. this one's recent though..

yes. except with a prettier face and with boobies and a vagina. Steven was actually first choice to play the elf princess in Lord of the Rings.

I was wondering the same thing myself. I would personally like to see zero population growth.

This asteroid serves two purpose's.

1: It gets peoples minds off the failed global economy

2: It now allows NASA to spend 900 Billion on a new Asteroid defense system.
