Who takes espn seriously anyways
I would like to know how many Times Kobe, in non-championship years, has been on the front page of ESPN compared to other teams during their championship years.

No Bosh so I would hold off on planning the parade routes, but that said ... I though we would lose that game, so I am proud of the effort. Bynum was a beast, Artest played his best game since game 7 vs. Celts and Kobe reclaimed the best SG title from Wade.
Good win. I still doubt our TRUE contender status, without adding a bench scorer or upgrading PG. I know many Laker fans think we need a SF, and 1 game doesnt prove that we don't ... but I think it's "greedy" to expect us to address ALL needs without breaking up our core.
If we plan to keep Pau, I would be happy with a cheap PG: Jack, Sessions, etc. and going with Barnes and Artest at SF, as long as we add a bench scorer like Beasley. If we make a move and trade Pau, then we better get a PG like Lowry or Rondo and get some type of backup big in return ...
For the record, I would prefer to keep Pau, but his extension was too much. I get the Buss family trying to pair down salary to avoid some of the harsher tax penalties. If we are NOT legit contenders, then why pay these bottom feeder franchises to stay in business?

This Lakers victory over the Heat -- and the cause for newfound optimism among the Lakers -- was born of such unexpected things as Metta World Peace (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/25/metta-world-peace) scoring 17 points, and Andrew Goudelock (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/6435/andrew-goudelock) scoring more points than LeBron, Wade or any other Heat player in the second quarter, and Pau Gasol (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/996/pau-gasol) playing the role of tough guy, stepping up to get in LeBron's grill after LeBron tangled with Troy Murphy (http://espn.go.com/nba/player/_/id/1013/troy-murphy) at the end of the third quarter.
Oh boy. Where do I start. So Adade is admitting it was a farce

Media is a little saucy over the Lakers double crossing them and not melting down longer.

They beat the Heat without Bosh, Wade fouling out, Artest having a game of his life and Kobe shooting extremely well.
I ask you, do you think this will happen again? No.
Also, Lets wait if the Lakers can beat OKC and Spurs before we start putting them back in the conversation. Right now, the Lakers are a second round team at best. A punching bag for either the Clippers or OKC in the West. Heck, I'm willing to bet they won't even beat a healthy Denver team in the playoffs.

I think there is one this season. Miami and OKC will absolutely meet in the Finals. I just cant see any team blocking their path.

Adande is a huge Laker cocksucker. Just go and look at how many times he's written about that Orlando must trade Dwight to the Lakers. It's almost comical.

Obviously with Grizz I'm expecting Randolph to return & be in somewhat playoff shape. Without him playing somewhere near last years level, I'll take Lakers
Clippers, obviously Lakers have the experience but Clips the upside with Paul. Butler and Jordan would be huge in that series, sadly I don't think we see these two play either as they should be back2back in the standings
Lakers would prob play a Thunder or Spurs in the 2nd Round. Without Odom, the LA vs SA matchup is alot sexier :lol

Let's not get carried away. Bosh was absent and we were at home. A good team should defend it's homecourt even against a better one. I still think we are a bench scorer and PG upgrade (doesnt need to be a star) from being a true contender.
I dont see how with a unproven coach, and two bench players starting we could be considered legit CONTENDERS ...When Only Kobe of the 3 Laker stars is a SUPERSTAR. Our other 2 are all-stars? Big difference between us and the Heat. Bosh is comparable to Pau and at this stage Kobe is still arguably better than Wade but not as good as Lebron.
Bynum was a presence inside but he is far and away the least talented of the top players on each team.

Unfortunately for Laker fans, the NBA doesn't use a BCS system & allow the media to vote teams into championships or else I'm sure you guys would get in!

You sure ain't humble and a good loser like Rose.

I agree, but only because of how talented the top 6 or so teams are out West. The problem with calling legit contenders in the West is that those top 6-7 teams are all fairly good and could take at least one playoff series off anyone. Just like last season (IMHO), when Memphis took the Spurs out and OKC to 7. Really anything could happen come playoff time depending on health and how well a team has gelled recently.

The Lakers play to the level of their competition. They're the Baltimore Ravens, basically...especially this year since they have great d but crappy offense
