NEW YORK (AP) -- The director of the CIA says he has an "excellent idea" where Osama bin Laden is hiding, but that the United States' respect for sovereign nations makes it more difficult to capture the al-Qaida chief.
In an interview with Time for the magazine's June 27 issue, Porter Goss was asked about the progress of the hunt for bin Laden.
"When you go to the question of dealing with sanctuaries in sovereign states, you're dealing with a problem of our sense of international obligation, fair play," Goss said. "We have to find a way to work in a conventional world in unconventional ways."
Asked whether that meant he knew where bin Laden is, Goss responded: "I have an excellent idea where he is. What's the next question?"
Goss did not say where he thinks bin Laden is, nor did he specify what country or countries he was referring to when he spoke of foreign sanctuaries. But American officials have long said they believed bin Laden was hiding in rugged mountains along the Afghan-Pakistani border.

Shit. This is stupid. Everyone knows his azz is in the tribal areas of western Pakistan. Funny how we simply MUST oust a tinpot like Saddam, but this fucker gets a free pass for planning and ordering 9/11 when the fucking CIA knows where he is. This smacks of everything that the NeoCons said about Clinton and OBL.

I thought the US stopped giving a shit about international obligation and fair play when we flipped the bird at the UN and formed a Coalition of the Willing to go to Iraq.

To be fair, unless I completely missed something in Goss's concerns for sovereignty (a unique concern within this Administration), I'd think that Goss is signalling that OBL is NOT in Afghanistan, Pakistan, or Iraq, where the acquiesence of the governing regimes would not really be a question.

He's in Pakistan. Officers as high as Colonel in Musharef's army are reputed to know exactly where, but Musharef himself does not want to know, since his government would fall in about an hour if it were known that he turned OBL or Mullah Omar over to the US. He will take what assistance we offer, since the fundamentalists are dangerous to his govt, and we can help with his India problems, but don't expect him to hand over anything but smallfry. It's even more dangerous for his govt to fully co-operate.

It's called a Ping.. (basically the CIA put an Eschelon type of operation out thru the media)
You put on the ears.. then Goss comes on TV.. then you see where the rat takes the cheese....

That's assuming that we don't already know where Bin Laden is. I think its very telling that although we have all these new 'assets' in the Pushtin-Pakistan border region; we still don't have a clue where Bin Laden, nor his accomplice, Muhammad Omar, could be.
Clue: He's no longer in Pakistan.

Just a guess that the weight that Bin Laden has put on, judging from the video he released immediately before the 04 Presidential election (coincidence?), he's probably not hiding in some cave in Pakistan.

Hint: living in the tribal areas of Pakistan <> living in a cave. They are probably treating him very well.

Maybe he lives in an executive sweet at the White House, while we stage our war in Iraq.(Per Star Wars)
.00000000000000000000000000000000001 percent of being likely, but you never know.

Are you saying we ought to check the Lincoln bedroom?

My guess is he's back in Saudi Arabia.
