"Google has been pressuring applications and mobile game developers to use its costlier in-house payment service, Google Wallet for quite some time. Now Google warned several developers in recent months that if they continued to use other payment methods — such as PayPal, Zong and Boku — their apps would be removed from Google Play (http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/03/08/us-google-idUSBRE8271CJ20120308). The move is seen as a way to cut costs for Google by using their own system."

I guess they are finally trying harder on their marketplace. Don't particularly understand or like the name Google "Play"

Battleheart Developer Drops Android As 'Unsustainable'

"Battleheart's creator Mika Mobile in an update explained that it was dropping Android support (http://www.electronista.com/articles/12/03/10/mika.mobile.says.android.money.losing.platform/). Google's platform was losing money for the company, since it spent about 20 percent of its time supporting the platform but only ever made five percent or less of the company's revenue. Much of the effort was spent on issues specific to Android, where the diversity was only creating problems rather than helping. 'I would have preferred spending that time on more content for you, but instead I was thanklessly modifying shaders and texture formats to work on different GPUs, or pushing out patches to support new devices without crashing, or walking someone through how to fix an installation that wouldn't go through,' one half of the husband and wife duo said. 'We spent thousands on various test hardware. These are the unsung necessities of offering our apps on Android.'"

This is where google is paying homage to Apple. The Apple Store did it right in this area and Google knows it. Its very streamlined. I purchased some apps on Google Play because of the sale going on and it's pretty good. The ease of it made me purchase multiple apps on the same day. I think developers will be in the wrong boat if they choose to protest against it. They just need time to get over the authoritative aspect of it.

The name is terrible though. Play? I don't buy apps just to "play". "Android Market" was perfect.
