Interesting, I like it tbh. We just have to get a decent big, start Kahwi and we're set.

Interesting, I like it tbh. We just have to get a decent big, start Kahwi and we're set.

That big will most likely be Diaw, but i doubt Pop would start him due to his obsession towards ginger and reluctance to mess with Whataburger's confidence

Pop talked as if tonight he'll use more of a standard rotation. We'll see if that actually happens.

timvp
03-12-2012, 08:33 PM
Can't really complain. Big 3 looks good. Bench played well. Hopefully we see better defense in the second half but I won't be holding my breath. At least this time the offense alone should be able to allow the Spurs to cruise to victory ... unless they totally get bored and take their foot off the gas.

will_spurs
03-12-2012, 08:36 PM
The end of 2nd Q really looked like the players were getting bored, especially Parker. Seems like a lot of "sure I could make this lay-up but let me try some crazy pass instead".

JMcDonald_SAEN Manu Ginobili has not played since mid-3Q. He's at the end of the bench, stretching out what appears to be some sort of leg tightness.

Exactly. If you're competing for a championship you're not grading yourself on whether you win the game but how you win the game. To bad we won't be facing any of these Leastern Conference teams in the playoffs.

My thoughts from the game after seeing this team live for the first time this season:

-Post D is not all that bad (might even be good against teams not named the Lakers or Memphis in the West).
-Tim Duncan is still a top 5 bigman in the league today, and it really can't be disputed
-Parker should really be considered for MVP. I know he won't win it, but not being considered a top 5 candidate is ludicrous.
-There are so many long jumpshots either hardly being defended or going uncontested altogether.
-When Parker is not playing, the ball-handling and offense in general is bad.
-Blair can defend, as can RJ when not being lazy. Both just make dumb decisions.
-Splitter is the real deal when he gets going.
-Bonner really can be useless when his shot isn't falling, but he hustled and played some good D for small stretches. In general he wasn't that much of a liability. Blair should've gotten time next to Splitter or Leonard should've played the 4 the rest of the time.

There's more but that's the most obvious I could point out. If the Spurs can get Diaw, then they should focus on getting an outside defender before a PG or, preferably, a backup PG that can defend the perimeter well. The Blair hate is over the top, but he has some mental flaws that have been getting worse since his rookie year. Hope this game is a sign of things to come from Splitter, he played great on both ends. It'll be a sad day in Spursland when Duncan leaves, but if Parker can lead the offense this well in 4-5 years after his athleticism starts to fail the team will live on.
