Piffle.

The layman's summary does not explain the anomalies, nor does it assert fraud and corruption, except in the title.

Instead it merely rests content to rule out any demographic explanations in advance, leaving the reader free to follow his imagination wherever it may lead....

Hey P.

You got a passing mention in a write up in the Chronicle about how crazies have invaded Austin city government.

They were talking about that floride hearing, and the guy noted that your criticism of the government medicating people willy nilly sounded reasonable. Especially when compared to the asshat that went off about Rothchilds and stuff.

http://www.austinchronicle.com/news/2012-03-02/inside-out-outside-in/

That was understandable when that witness was, say, a dentist who had grown skeptical of fluoride's advertised benefits. Or a scientist who had seen one too many correlations between fluoridation and thyroid problems for his liking. Or a civil liberties activist wondering if the government should really be in the business of medicating its constituency willy-nilly.

These were all reasonable souls.

But it's a different situation when a woman approaches the microphone and cites the Rothschild family and its secret plot to poison Central Texans. That's when reason tends to go out the window.

FWIW.

A few basic assumptions...

Meh. It is a start to proving what they want to prove, but the sheer amount of money and organization that Romney has this time around means that larger districts, where any organized campaign will target efforts to get out votes, will go for the more organized, financed candidate.

You have to control for a whole lot of other factors, which I didn't see here.

Their problem is that they ordered it by size of precinct. There is a large potential for rural voters to vote differently than townies, among other factors.

They failed as soon as they went from ordering it alphabetically, which controls for this effect, and going with size of precinct instead.

I seem to remember that in one of the recent past elections, there were more votes than registered voters in a precinct. Anyone recall that one?

This is pretty solid evidence of not only mistakes, but voter fraud. It's an interesting read. What does appear as mistakes may have been intentional as well.

There was an article about a woman from Austin (a "social entrepreneur") who had gone to Ohio to work on the last Presidential campaign. I clicked on a link to her website, and the idiot actually talked about registering and voting there, along with a number of her fellow organizers, even though it was obvious she kept her residence and business in Austin. She documented her work there, and went on and on about how important swing states were, and how much they needed to get votes into those states. I couldn't believe anyone could be that stupid, but she had pictures of herself and others up there, even at the polls.

I tried to report her, and couldn't find anyone who would take it up. I think someone must have contacted her, because she suddenly took down the entire website.

I have to laugh at the people who say "voter fraud doesn't occur", and then jump on the bandwagon when it appears to happen on the Republican side. And the people who insist that voter fraud occurs, and then deny it when it's on the Republican side. They're all damn politicians, and it's the nature of the beast. And it doesn't help that there are armies of zombies on both sides willing to bend/break the rules as they blindly follow the ideology they prefer.

Does voter fraud occur? Hell yes it does. Plenty of people on both side would resort to it if they thought they could get by with it. And since they can get by with it, I guarantee you that they do. No way to know how widespread it is. Probably not as rampant as some claim, but probably more than the fairy tales of "isolated incidents".

And BTW, Shortbus - the whole basis for this thread was anecdotal. But you don't mind it as long as it says something you like. Go ahead and fire back something witty and biting. You always think that makes up for content.
