Internet pornography could conceivably become a thing of the past if Rick Santorum is elected president.

The unapologetic social conservative, currently in second place behind Mitt Romney for the GOP nomination, has promised to crack down on the distribution of pornography if elected. ...

If elected, he [would] “vigorously” enforce laws that “prohibit distribution of hardcore (obscene) pornography on the Internet, on cable/satellite TV, on hotel/motel TV, in retail shops and through the mail or by common carrier.”

Yeah, I commented in another thread about that being one of his issues. He's taking a really fierce stand here, as opposed to Obama who's pushing for even more child porn in 2012.

Is there something wrong with enforcement of laws? If you don't like the laws, change them.

Santorum is such a tool...so is he going to abolish the first amendment?...the current laws addressing porn (specifically child porn) are already aggressively being enforced.

I'm starting to thing that Santorum is really an amazingly creative and ingenious plant by the Republican Party to make mainstream Republicans and conservatives grateful and ecstatic when Romney finally gets the nomination.

the sad truth is that a huge part of the Republican party voters actually thinks and agrees with Santorum.

You mean mainstream Republicans like Wild Cobra or Spursncowboys who support Santorum?

Sorry senor, but a "mainstream Republican" these days is a bible thumper who loves to harp on social issues.

If that was true, then Santorum would be the front-runner. I would assume, based on ACTUAL election results, that those social issues are prime concerns for between 25 - 30% of the Republican voters in the primaries thus far.

However, Santorum keeps taking it further and further (speak english, get rid of porn, etc) - if you're right, his popularity will grow, if I'm right, what support he does have will falter.

I was thinking the other way around. That Santorum is really an amazingly creative and ingenious plant by the Democratic Party to scare the shit out of moderate republicans and independents.

Of course given the consistencies between the last 3+ years and the 8 that preceeded those, I don't think we can rule out that Obama might just be an even more amazingly creative and ingenious plant by the Republicans.

I'm beginning to think the Republican and Democrat parties are amazingly creative and ingenious plants by a extra terrestrial race that future Earth ultimately conquers who have traveled back in time to make sure we never develop enough to do it (again?).

Mr. Santorum seems well informed about all the hardcore (obscene) pornography distributed on the Internet, on cable/satellite TV, on hotel/motel TV, in retail shops and through the mail or by common carrier.

WTF...

How many times have I shown support for him?

The only candidate I have backed this election cycle is Cain, and he is out. If anyone, you should think I'm supporting Paul, because I have been most favorable to him.

Oh...

For future reference... I am not a Republican. I am far from mainstream anything.

Look, Santorum pretty much had to come out with this position on porn because he has already pissed off the female half of the voting electorate with all or his weird stances regarding women and birth control and who should make the decisions regarding women's sexuality....so in order to prove his is 'equal opportunity', he pretty much has to do something pissing off the male population as well, doesn't he?

I mean, really...

In one of the debates Santorum said that what he believed wasn't the same as what he would make law. that he wasn't trying to make people lve the life he lived. he wasn't a democrat.

Not really. That would fail to account for the variability in internet usage from state-to-state. Normalization against total search volume is the appropriate standard.
