Staying true to what Whiz said about building his team from the draft and getting players that fit the system, dont expect big name FAs to be signed by the team this year.
Kolb got his bonus and is staying with the team. Good news about this is he agreed to restructure his contract to free up some cap so the team can address the roster issues. He will still be overpaid though, but at least he made a conscious effort to be a team player with his structuring.
Just give the starting job to Kolb and have Skelton back him up. This relieves chemistry and confidence issues right away specially after the Manning drama.
WR#2 is a problem. Not much good WRs left but Manningham although expensive may be a possibility. Evans is still available too. Doucet can still be resigned. Williams is tall and long and has big potential. Or use the draft pick #13 to get one.
Oline. Jesus help us with this problem. LT Levi Brown has been resigned for 5 more years mainly because Grimm likes run blockers and he has good blocking for the running game. FWIW, 1st half of the season he was giving up pressure 1 out of 8 plays, 2nd half it was 1 out of 27 plays. Former 49er Adam Snyder was signed as a versatile RT. LT Bell made a visit to AZ too.
Colledge and Sendlein I think are ok. IMO, they should draft an OLineman since they can start and help the team right away.
Defense. CB Greg Toler is coming back and PP7 gets 1 more year of experience. Safety is still a problem but ADub wont be playing injured anymore. Acho and Schofield is a pretty good combination. Dockett didnt like the defensive scheme the whole season but hopefully warms to it this year. They need to address Calais' contract and make him a Cardinal the rest of his life. Dude is a fg blocking machine.
Offense. Beanie Wells had a 1000 yard season, he did suffer a lot of injuries. RB Ryan Williams is back, his greatest asset is the way he cuts to the trenches so hopefully the injury didnt take that away from him.
49ers may or may not get Manning but I hope they do so it can drive the Cardinals defense crazy...specially Dockett since he hates that team the most. Fuck Manning!
