View Full Version : SJax addresses SA media: Cried tears of joy over trade

The ADMIRAL 50

Jeff McDonald just posted some great quotes from Capt. Jack after he addressed the SA media for the first time, here are some of his tweets:

Stephen Jackson, addressing SA media in full for 1st time since trade, said he cried tears of joy when informed he was headed back to Spurs.

Jack says not much has changed about the organization since he left in 2003. "R.C. (Buford) still looks 16."

Jack, when asked if he can recapture magic from 2003: "It's not if I can. I have to."

And then my favorite Jack quote from today: “I’m going to be my normal self. .... I still make love to pressure."

Also, here's a Mike Monroe tweet from yesterday:

Capt. Jack swears he'll relish any role #Spurfs coach #RealCoachPop gives him.http://bit.ly/xnuU6r

I don't think any of us SpursTalkers were concerned to begin with, but just in case you or anyone you know was, this is certainly reassuring to see. As we expected Jack is prepared to take on any role with this squad as long as he gets to help us win. Regardless of how he has played the past couple seasons or so, I think the Stephen Jackson we get to see will be an entirely different player than the one Milwaukee had around. Jack knows he has a legit shot with this squad and there cannot possibly be a better motivator for a player (especially a veteran) who has tasted very little success saved for an 8 vs 1 upset in the past nine seasons. Loving this trade more and more every minute, can't even imagine how ecstatic we will be once we see him play himself into form and fit into the squad. Gotta love the timing of these couple of days off as well. :toast

why does this bother you?

People have been calling him Sjax forever (probably longer than buckets). Since this is the name that people have given him in the stead of his actual name, that would make this his nickname.

because its fucking awesome thats why. personally i like to go with a different moniker each time; Jack, Buckets, Capt. Jack, Action Jackson, the Anti-RJ, ya know, just have fun with it. Besideds, its an abbreviation. People dont actually pronounce etc. "ET-CK," its et cetera. Just go with it.

Tbh, couldn't call him Jack back in 2001 because of Jaren Jackson. It was JJ and SJax. But I guess you have a point since eventually TP2 was allowed to drop the numeral.

ess - jaks? Longer than Jack. More awkward to say than just Jackson. Kind of sounds effeminate tbh; you could develop a lisp just saying it. Could be a batch of Alpha Bits with only one letter.

zhjaks? Even more awkward. Makes you sound drunk or French or both. I sound like Will Farrell's Harry Carey impression when I try to pronounce it that way.

This is good to hear but I don't think Stephen should be used as a run-of-the-mill role player who comes in just to provide some rest to the starters. I think he, being much more versatile than RJ, should be given the opportunity to play at critical moments and in pressure situations.

Yea... It's great. If we meet up that could be a big key. His defense no Dirk was great, and there was even 1 scenario someone else came and doubled him. (Like GS did in 07 they swarmed him) I think there's a real mental advantaged there even though we beat them with RJ a couple years ago

If you figure Arrjeff was starting, then Essjax stands an excellent chance of ending up in the starting lineup. I still expect Kayleh to get significant minutes, and Emgin should take the starting job from Deegree any day now.

I hope he has matured mentally because he was a handful. Maybe the maturity will make up for the years.

I am just so frggn glad he cares. He will hit the floor, he will bloody a nose, he will not worry about looking bad on occasion. So opposite of Jefferson. Its so much easier to take mistakes that occur with effort behind them.

Did Jefferson ever actually fall or get bowed in the face? Tony has scars all over his round head, Ginobilli has a nose that has been smashed so many times, Duncan has his arms raked with scratch marks. I never saw a mark on Jefferson. Jesus... his ears were too small to even get cauliflowered.

Who made you the fucking vocabulary police? If someone wants to call him Rolando, they can. You don't like the way something rolls off your own tougue, and you're gonna bitch until the quit? I swear, you need to take some damn Midol, and chill out.

Besides your bad fucking attitude, you also need to smarten up. Nicknames just happen sometimes. How many does/did David Robinson have? (And, duh, does SJax remind you of DRob much?) Somehow you've decided that Stephen Jackson had a nickname, and you don't ever want to hear anything else? A little resistant to change there?

I know - you're specialty is the cutting comeback and week-long harassment. Go ahead. Make yourself look like even more of a pouting child. Or... you could just decide that people have a right to say SJax if they want to, and it's not that big of a deal. You know, sort of like a real grown-up.

man chumpdump doesnt have many friends around here it seems. The silverblk mystix and GSH posts at the top of this page were pretty hilarious I must admit, but chumpdump fired back with some very nice, finely tuned, holier-than-thou feigned indifference tbh.Eh, the butthurt brigade holds a grudge because I made them look bad in the past. I've been much more effectively insulted by much better posters.

Here is an example of Cummdumpster interacting with someone in his "real" life;

Friend: Sure is hot today!

Cummdumpster: It isn't that hot...

Friend: Yes...it is hot and humid...

Cummdumpster: Well, generally it is not as humid as bummfuck Egypt...but since you said it...what is the humidity today? Be specific.

Friend: I don't fuckin' know...what the fuck's wrong with you?

Cummdumpster: So you don't really know the exact humidity...you just said it was humid but you can't provide the exact humidity....
...how about the barometric pressure? Can you tell me that?

Friend: Dude...chill...

Cummdumpster: Are you telling me to relax or are you now saying that the temperature is chill..as in chilly? Be specific. Or at least give me an exact meaning of chill.

Cummdumpster: Still Waiting.

Cummdumpster: So you don't really know. Maybe I should simplify it for you...

Friend: Walks away...

Why does everyone type SJax? That's not his nickname and has to sound stupid if anyone actually said it anywhere, which they do not.

Perhaps we should ask DROB or TP or BB.

It's 2012 and the age of texting.
