Bynum led the Lakers to a 3-1 week, which included wins over the Grizzlies and Timberwolves. Bynum led the West in rebounding (14.8 rpg) and placed second in scoring (27.5) while shooting .665 from the field (fourth in the Conference).

That's not including yeterdays game where Bynum scored 33 points (12/14 FG) and grabbed 14 rebounds.

Bynum has been beasting and he's been putting up those numbers depite of limited touches and sharing the paint with Gasol. Kobe is leading the team in scoring but in a very inefficient manner and he has been pretty unsuccessful in clutch moments this season. At this point, if we go by numbers its safe to say the Lakers have a higher chance of winning by going to Bynum in clutch moments and unlike Kobe, Bynum is a willing passer when he's doubled.

Is this year officially the start of Bynum's Lakers?

It's Kobe's team until he limits his shots and starts feeding the bigs. Seniority, marketing value & all

Kobe won't relinquish control of the team regardless if one of his teammates has become better and more productive. Bynum has started to show the game to back it up. He doesn't have the dominant personality to take on the role yet. Pau's a pussy so we know it would never be his team. But as long as Kobe is playing, I don't think his ego will allow anyone else to have the power control over the team.

On a tangent, what might be a scary and sad thought is that adding talent to the Lakers isn't necessarily a solution. Whatever other changes they could make to the roster, especially in the off season, it won't really change who Kobe is and how he plays. Sounds weird, but the Lakers' best move this summer might be adding a really older veteran guy like Grant Hill or Chauncey Billups because at least Kobe "might" listen to a player like that more than he would just some younger player who has game but doesn't have the juice to talk to Kobe in a certain way. Take away guys like Fisher and Odom, and the lockerroom is full of players who all cower to Kobe. No one will stand up to him. Even MWP licks his shoes. And you know Mike Brown ain't getting in Kobe's way. They will need to find at least one guy Kobe respects and has the balls to criticize Kobe and be candid and firm when they do so. That might be a very difficult task.

um, Pau led his Spanish team to a gold medal. He is the heart and soul of the Spanish team. I don't see why he could not lead the lakers once Kobe is gone of course.
