New poster here. I'd like to start off that I'm a huge admirer of this team and how its built. They are different from the rest of the league. Actually, I'm gonna make this quick because I have to go somewhere right now, I'd just like to ask for the history and background of Spurs' very own coach Pop. IMO, he's the best in the league, and if possible, fans could provide me with some quotes or facts about him that made him who he is today. What are his philosophies? What's his favorite motto? Everything about what he stands for and what he believes in.
Another thing I'd like to ask is the tiers of people responsible for making the Spurs become the class of the league it is today. For example, is it coach Pop who masterminds everything from the way the Spurs are run, which players to go after, etc. Or is it RC Buford? Sean Marks? I'd like to see it in this form:
Tier 1 of importance:
X
Tier 2:
Y
and so forth and so forth.
Finally, if anyone could provide me articles about the Spurs, stuff about their mission and vision, etc. I ask for all of this because I think their professionalism could not only be used in basketball leagues/sports, but in business, could also be used for myself and how I perceive things (ex. work hard to achieve something could be a Spurs motto).
Thank you for finally accepting me into this site, admins. Hope I get some good comments in this thread. Thanks.

Oh yes, I know all about that quote by Jacob Riis. It has become my favorite quote ever since I heard it is placed all over the AT&T center. Are there any more quotes the Spurs people/players live by?

How about we do do things a little differently and break down the Spurstalk posters into two brackets of importance..
Guitatdude27 has to be upper echelon..

My favorite philosophy of coach Pop:
Deciding to play players in the playoffs that you hardly played during the season.
It's Brilliant!!!

Here's where you shall get full info on the Front Office that will answer your queries -
http://i.cdn.turner.com/nba/nba/.element/media/2.0/teamsites/spurs/imgs/spurs_sse_staff_201112_mediaguide.pdf
As for philosophies etc, tonnes of articles available on the net to explain those.
Search for terms such as "Pounding the Rock", "Jacob Riis" etc... and you will get the pattern and thinking quite quickly.

Okay any more info? Not really interested in the game plan, but more emphasized on the mindset Pop establishes for his players, the methods of the front office, etc.

“...you learn it’s not about you. It’s about the group. It’s about the people that are around you and how people come together and how teams are put together and how you have each other’s back and that sort of thing. You learn that one person really doesn’t get anything done. In any business, in any endeavor, the people around you have to be good people and have to be able to work together. That’s where the real joy is – when you’re sharing success with somebody..." - Gregg Popovich
