I'll just say, I find it nearly impossible to believe anyone in the NFL is capable of running anything close to a 10 sec 100m. My thoughts.. you lined up all the so-called fastest players (and they are fast) in the NFL, legitimately timed them in the 100, your best time would hover around 10.3-10.4. Professional sprinters are much much lighter and much much faster than NFL players. Apples oranges, fellas.

I totally agree just one season out of college and a Jacoby Ford who was a legit 10.01 would be lucky to run a sub 10.20 if that.

That was more about all the great sprinters (many Olympians) who did play in the NFL. Only a few were sprinters trying to be footballers, most were two sport stars.

Then we had the hurdlers. All sub14.0

Jerry Tarr
Richmond Flowers
Bennie McRae
Tyrone Wheatley
Gene Washington
Willie Gault
Earl McCullouch
Spider Gaines
Rod Woodson
James Owens

long jumpers. All over 26.0

Bo Roberson
Latin Berry
Paul Warfield
James Lofton
Vance Johnson
Johnny Hector
James McAlister
Chris Sanders
Eric Metcalf
Ron Jessie

Poopshoot Magoo - 10.24
Stinkbox Potato Head - 10.17
Swift Sam Jones - 10.00 (wind aided)...cat still ran a 10.49 otherwise

I always get a kick out of..."track speed has nothing to do with football speed"...hahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

I could list tons and tons and tons of sprnters/footballers...TONS!!!!!!!!!!! Nobody is talking about trying to make a footballer out of a track guy. Football is loaded down with guys who did both.

Jimmy Hines won the 1968 Olympic 100m, the Dolphins brought him in to see if just maybe....nope he sucked.

Bob Hayes who won the 1964 Olympic 100m was a football player, actually a running back at Florida A&M, who just happened to..ALSO..be the fastest man in the world. A footballer like Jamaal Charles, Sammy Watkins, Chris Johnson who also ran track.

Ringa Dinga Ringa Dinga....school in session.

We always read/hear about how Bob Hayes changed the way pass defense is played because nobody could run with him. Which is true, but....

In the mid 50's there was a cat out of Loyola named Bob Boyd, he was the NCAA 100 champ, a 9.5 guy (Hayes 9.1) at a time when the league still had white cornerbacks, yep...nobody could run with Bob Boyd. He had over 1000 yards as a rookie....hmmm?

See ya learned something.

Curtis Conway was a QB while at Hawthorne HS here in Cali. As a QB he won the state 100m and ran a sub 46.00 relay leg on the 4x4 team. Once at USC he became a receiver and ran a 10.2? on the track team. There has never been any athlete who played the QB position at any level faster.

As we know he played for the Bears in the NFL.

One fast QB (lane 4)

I'm talking about at the height of his physical prowess. The 100m takes....speed endurance....something only trained athletes possess. I;m ...obviously...not talking about a person simply running to a 100m mark. I.m talking about actually running the entire distance all out.

Then you'd be wrong as you usually are. Most people can't run a 100m. Obviously I'm talking about being about to sustain/maintain a large % of max velocity which is 100m sprinting. That being what seperates world class sprinters from everyone else.

Please don't play.....he could run that far...ok? I couldn't really run a 100m today, at around 60 I'm done.

I doubt you can run much farther than from the computer to the toilet. But I do think you probably have a fast time in that distance.

I often question how I act on the internet. It would be very difficult to explain my secret life to my loved ones and work contacts.

They would certainly wonder why I engaged in inane looping conversations about blues and track and field with another person who was pretending to be an old pedophile that lived in a garage surrounded by books and magazines about sports.

And now that I see it in writing, it makes me think I'm not very productive with my life sometimes.
