Former presidential candidate John Edwards has allegedly been named as a client in New York City’s so-called “Soccer Mom Madam” prostitution scheme, according the DNAinfo website.
A call girl working for alleged “Millionaire Madam” Anna Gristina has told investigators that she was paid to have sex with Edwards in 2007 when he was in New York raising money for his failed presidential bid, says the report by the city-based website that covers crime issue.
The one-night fling allegedly took place at an Upper East Side hotel suite and was arranged by an aide with help from a New Yorker familiar with Gristina’s prostitution ring, sources told DNAinfo.
Gristina has been arrested and is suspected of running a $15 million New York prostitution ring with a “black book” allegedly containing a client list of powerful, wealthy, and politically connected clients.
The Edwards story was spreading across the media on Thursday morning, as outlets picked up the story, including New York Magazine, Huffington Post, the Daily Beast, the New York Daily News, and The Hill.
Murray Weiss, the reporter on the story, was a longtime police bureau chief for the New York Post. Several weeks ago, he was the first to disclose the existence of the Upper East side escort service.
DNAInfo reported that Edwards’ lawyers had been contacted but had no comment. POLITICO also contacted one of Edwards’ lawyers
~~Not that this is shocking news but damn.
