Actually he got them there, went into mediocrity and Melo, Amare and Chandler have been keeping them afloat.

Lin is just your average PG now.

Lin won't be the one taking the Knicks to the playoffs. The success of the Knicks hinge on the play, attitude, and leadership of Carmelo Anthony. When things are bad, he's the destructive force behind the team losing. But if he plays controlled and disciplined and unselfish, the Knicks are a much better team with still a good deal of talent. Melo will be the reason for the Knicks success or failure.

That's not to say Lin isn't important. He still plays an important role. And since D'Antoni left and Woodson publicly proclaimed the offense would go through Melo and Amare, Lin has still averaged 15/6, and he's done a considerably better job protecting the ball. He's still playing well enough. But he's not the guy to take the Knicks to the playoffs. He's just along for the ride.
