First Stephen Jackson stabs his coach in the back and you sign him.
Now Boris Diaw stabs his coach in the back and you sign him.
It's like shaved pussy, huh?
tee, hee.

Going crazy is bitching about how the Spurs don't run when they had great bigs and then a few years later bitching about the Spurs bigs when they have a running team.
Spurs don't run. You never saw when the Spurs were a running team, the 1970s.

Pop was asked a question before the game about Parker and Diaw finally playing together after knowing each other for 14 years ...
Pop: "Isn’t that sweet? I don’t think I’m going to be able to coach now. I hope they have fun. I hope they go to dinner afterwards ..."
... "I hope they enjoy themselves and are lovey dovey the whole night.”

Pop says Diaw could play tonight. Diaw, for his part, says he's ready to go if called upon.
Hi Jeff, I'm DPG, have we met?
Last time we said that was in '09 when RC got RJ and Dice and somewhat in '10 when he got Splitter. Pop's got plenty of good cards. Let's see how he plays them. For one will he be able to overcome his Bonner love to put the best players on the floor?
yeah but last time mavfan said it, the mavs won a championship.

I asked coach Pop if Diaw playing with Parker in the past could be an advantage, “I guess so," Pop said, "I guess that’s logical.” #Spurs

Diaw: "I’ve been knowing this franchise for a long time now thru Tony. I feel like I know this organization and I’m just glad to be here."

is it me? I think Boris Diaw and S-Jax will get into it maybe in a practice or whatever because S-Jax will believe Boris is being too passive :lol

So is he playing tonight?
I remember Pop scratching his head because of the mismatches that Diaw brought against the Spurs when they played the Suns in the playoffs.
I hope They can have that kind of advantage now.

Did you ever talk about playing in the NBA together?
Diaw "yeah, we talk about it when we were 16yo but it was just a dream"
Nice addition. The dude will not mess up this opportunity.

Excellent signing. Of all the bigmen available after the deadline, Diaw was the one that had the best chance of making an impact. I'm glad we got him.

Let's hope Pop actually plays him.
Wouldn't surprise me in the least to see Bonner and Blair get more Playing Time then Diaw:depressed

Anyone know the terms of the Diaw contract? Assuming mini-MLE money ($3m?) but how many years?

If 80% of his peak level and we will be fine. 90%, we are contenders.

Bump-
Was this the best in-season signing...along with Patty Mills...in Spurs history?
Two seasons later, RC = Exec of the Year and Pop = Coach of the Year

Nah, signing Granger this year was better.

Probably better than Mills. I liked it at the time but never thought he'd be this good in this system.

That 3rd week in March, 2012 was the best, in my book. Those in-season moves by the Spurs' FO:
Move Richard Jefferson & a draft pick (Festus Ezeli - 30th pick) for Captain Jack
Sign Boris Diaw
Agree-to & Sign Patty Mills (actual contract signing had to wait 1 week until March 29 for work visa to clear)
Since then, the Spurs have been to 3 straight WCF and 2 straight Finals.

We'd have been going for a B2B had we held onto SJax too, tbh..

I liked bringing SJax back, even though that didn't really work out for the team in the end, and since Diaw's signing he's become an absolutely integral part of the System. Other solid mid-season signings of note were Glenn Robinson and Nazr Mohammed, neither of whom had the long-lasting impact of Diaw but were pretty essential to the 2005 run. Can't speak to "history" but in my lifetime, at least, he's been the most significant in-season signing.
