Stop gap until Patty Mills gets his visa situated? Seems like it...especially with the stretch of games they are in.

Interesting. What's this mean for Mills then?

It's a 10 day contract so nothing.

Quick thoughts:
-Bad news regarding TP's health ... at least in the short-term.
-Australia needs to hurry up with that damn visa for Mills.
-Good to get Dentmon out of the way so that Joseph can get some legit run in the D-League.
-Dentmon is a good option in a Pop forfeit. He's a high-usage ballhog but his individual shot creation will be useful when the options are limited.

Nothing. Pop said in an interview today that he didn't think anything would get resolved going into the weekend. Dentmon is insurance.

Mills wont get any PT come playoff time anyway, so theres no rush to bring him in really.

Don't think the Spurs need him but interesting call-up nevertheless.

So in other words he's probably not going to see any playing time.

Dentmon to play 30 plus minutes tomorrow.

Spurs will have too to cut Dawson before the end of his contract.

That sucks but if we lost this game is was because we don't have a backup PG....Neal was ugly for the most part at PG...I will be much happier when Mills gets here.

Poor guy. But at least he played couple nba minutes. Maybe next year

Except that Tony is hurt, TJ is retired, Cory Joseph is assigned to Austin and we're signing D-League players to start at PG...no real reason for him to hurry :lol

Pop is going to play Mills, it will be up to him how much time he gets. He does good he gets minutes he sucks he sits on the bench.
Wow we are calling up a D-league player instead of our first round pick CJ.....I think CJ is going to have to do what Bowen had to do and that is playing overseas..

I'm pretty sure if we call CJ back up to San Antonio again that he'll be inelligible to return to Austin this season. Hes been back and forth quite a few times already and the Spurs are nearly at their maximum number of moves.
Dentmon will get 10 days and then hopefully return once Patty Mills is in town. Theres no need to bring in CJ, and effectively end his season, when Dentmon could fill the same need.

I wonder if this has to do with all the games in so few days coming up

Aside of TP injury, I guess a reason for this call up is that Manu won't play the full b2b2b. If Manu is out either Saturday or Sunday and if Parker is still out, Spurs will really need another PG.

The visa issue would be on the US side, not Australia.

This is actually kind of funny. Boris Diaw was only the "newest Spur" for about 6 hours and was then abruptly replaced by Justin Dentmon.

Actually, I'm not that sure of that. Mills has reportedly signed a contract but does he count against the 15 man roster. It could be nice to have Dawson for the b2b2b with Tiago injured and Tim set to miss a game.

If the Spurs don't cut him before his 10 day contract is up, they have to sign him for the rest of the season. No reason to pay the scrub that kind of cash.

Great to see him flash a little. We haven't seen him do it up to that point but damn if that is not so much a flash as an explosion.
I love the Spurs organization.

True, Maine sucks -- but he had a good outing against the reigning league MVP the game before. The last four games of the season will be a good test for Joseph, as well as the playoffs if the Toros make them and Joseph stays there.

We got to see if he keeps it going cause those numbers he put up the last 2 guys games is prolly the most points he ever scored in his life and the Maine is the worst team in the D-league... the verdict is still out on him....
Ummm, nope.
While in college, on December 18, 2010 Cory Joseph scored 21 points, including the game winning shot, in a matchup against North Carolina.

Hes not getting waived or anything. He may get traded...but not in a salary dump - the Spurs would get some kind of value back for him (or include him in a larger deal). Now, by the end of next season anything could happen. Thats basically what we're looking at with James Anderson right now.

I thought we should have done this when TJ went down and left Joseph in Austin for the rest of the year to get some playing time during his college sophomore year.
Dentmon knows the system since he plays for the Toros and is probably playing guard as well as anyone in the D League.
It couldn't do any harm to bring him up with our thin PG situation right now.
