I cringe to even post this considering how unpopular Dejuan can be on this board but I have noticed that even in games when he is actually the team's best player he still gets very few minutes in the 4th quarter. It was noticeable in the last OKC game and tonight as well. Why does Pop start him but rarely let him finish?

Because his defense & he's not very smart.

Put simply, it's because he doesn't always focus.

His defense is also a problem due to his lack of height and focus. Any coach that's worth his pay will tell his bigs to post Blair up in crunch time.

That and, he's more of a bench big than a starter that you can rely on. Not a bad player or anything but he probably wouldn't be starting or closing on a *good* team. Forget about a contender.

offensively blair is solid in the first 5 minutes but still blows defensively no matter how hard he tries
as the game goes in he stops trying even though he doesnt do much besides miss 50% of his wideopen layups
then he starts turning it over, makes passes hes not capable of making, and gets 3 second calls

if you listened to his post game interview you would understand why hes not capable of closing games out

*sigh* He might work from time to time against the NOH of the league, but I want him out of the starting line-up before the play-offs start.

Stats or it didn't happen

The stat that matters most is how many points does his man have. What is his man's shooting percentage when he's on the floor.

Exactly my point. Didn't say anything about being the teams best scorer

In addition to his defensive weaknesses, even if Blair has it going offensively, you still don't want him in the 4th because he's a 54% shooter at the line and his game clogs the paint.

Blair is a cleanup guy, nothing else. He's as much a liability as an asset. Take your pick.

Even if he plays good defense and has his hands up it's still easy for the offensive player to shoot over him.

Damn. He can lead the Spurs in scoring, yet suck in absolutely every other category...

Blair personnel stats are just fine: 9.5ppg with a .529 FG% and 5.8 rpg in 21 mpg. His main problem is what isn't in the stat that is to say poor defense and an offensive game that does nothing for the whole team offense.
