This team is going down hill by upgrading at two defensive positions. No cap room to sign any FAs and Brees is gonna leave :cry:cry:cry

Former Atlanta Falcons (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/atlanta-falcons/67038) linebacker Curtis Lofton (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/curtis-lofton/535231) has agreed to a five-year contract with the New Orleans Saints (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/new-orleans-saints/67055). Lofton, who was an unrestricted free agent, started all 16 games at middle linebacker for the Falcons last season. The 6-foot, 241-pound Lofton was a second-round draft choice by the Falcons in 2008 and has started 63 of his 64 games. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/New-Orleans-Saints-Curtis-Lofton-five-year-contract-032512

Veteran DT Brodrick Bunkley and the Saints have agreed to a five-year, $25 million deal with $9 million fully guaranteed, according to a league source.http://blogs.nfl.com/2012/03/21/bunkley-goes-to-saints-on-five-year-25m-contract/

Your defense was crap, these moves are necessary. Who did you lose other than one part in your assembly line of WR's

Their HC and GM:lol

Personnel-wise, Carl Nicks at Guard (Probowler), but player suspensions havent been handed out yet.

Hmm personal, that's not bad. Obv suspensions might be the final nail in this seasons coffin. I agree with the thread title & not sure how Saint fan didn't see this coming.

As soon as the allegations came out I proclaimed the Saints would decline (No Bye in Playoffs). There is no way a team that's 37-11 over 3 seasons won't be hit hard by losing draft picks. The draft is how you replace losing FA's for a fraction of the cost. Then when the Payton suspension were released.... this team might miss the playoffs this season.

But you can rebound quickly in the NFL & I feel this might be a blessing as I felt the run with this current group of Saints was over anyway. This one season might be the perfect time to reload around Brees one last time

They lost Nicks at guard but replaced him with Ben Grubbs from Baltimore who's been very good. They also lost Meachem, but he was only used as a deep threat anyway. Not a big loss at all. They still kept Colston and every other WR.

The GM is gone for half the season and his suspension won't start until September.

Payton is gone, but Carmicheal called the plays on offense last season and he's still there.

Well the Saints goal this season is simple. Finish ahead of the Falcons

The Saints only lost 2 second round picks. That's nothing. They've done well drafting after the 2nd round and they've been more amazing on undrafted free agents.

This bounty thing has also made them focus on revamping the defense too. No defensive coordinator in Spags who should be an upgrade over that idiot Williams. They let Tracy Porter go. Signed a new starting LB and DT. Franchising Brees helped as well since it gave them time to resign Colston, sign Grubbs, etc. They need to find a pass rusher. Won't be easy.

They're in a tough division, but they still we be the favorites to win it.

2-2nd Rounders = 2 Starters

The Saints wll be nothing in 2012. It will take a season to live this down. Too much of a distraction/situation to overcome in a season.

While seeking the counsel of his former boss and mentor, Bill Parcells, New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton has broached the idea of Parcells becoming the interim head coach during Payton's suspension for the 2012 season, according to several league sources.

Payton and Parcells have spoken numerous times, sources said, since NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced last Wednesday that the Saints coach was being suspended for the year because the league found that the team had engaged in a bounty program that included incentives to injure opposing players.

Parcells is not what they need right now, but he's an excellent draft coach.
