How is getting married locking shit down? If one doesn't get married, is their relationship less meaningful than a married person's?

Reck
03-27-2012, 10:07 PM
let me break it down for you. i'll type slowly so you can have a better chance of understanding:

1. you are getting free sex, all the time, with love, from a girl (or guy, whatever's clever imho).
2. why would you NOT marry her?
3. if you have something against 'marriage' (like recalcitrant hipsterdom), then why would you not stick with this girl for ever? i.e. be in a common law marriage (as defined by the great state of Texas)
4. if for all practical purposes you are married, then why not have a party to celebrate it?

in other words, if you don't recognise you've got a good thing going, and lock that shit down, then you're stupid

Marriage is overrated. :lol free sex.

That warranty runs out after six months.

You can get free sex without getting married if you know what you're doing..

I dont know what the & of cheating after marriage is but I bet its in the pretty bad percentage.

I rather have a live in girlfriend.

Reck

How is getting married locking shit down? If one doesn't get married, is their relationship less meaningful than a married person's?

Locking shit down as in you're your wife bitch. When you get married, all that you possess is your spose to have. If you cheat on her, she'll make it so your live is a financial disaster, if you divorce her she'll make it so you regret it for the rest of your life.

That's locking it down.

redzero

never claimed any of that

Then why are you equating not wanting to get married to not being able to find somebody?

but i feel for you, reading all your emotional baggage into my innocent posts

How is what I posted emotional baggage?

you on the other hand have said something to the effect of :lol marriage, so it appears that you would have some explaining to do on why you are against marriage

First show me that there is a point to getting married. If your best argument is "Why not?", then it's not a good reason.

but i think we all have figured that out by now. sometimes what appears to be unattainable becomes the object of scorn

Yes, make accussations because you can't defend your position.

but remember. i believe in you. you will find love someday, if you first learn to love yourself

Again equating not wanting to get married to not being able to find someone.

but but this marriage will certainly end in divorce and ruin me b-b-b-because I DON'T BELIEVE IN LOVE OR PRENUPTIAL AGREEMENETSSSSSSSSSSSSSS :cry

but i guess your deep-seated phobia of being hurt probably stems back to some sort of anal trauma regularly inflicted upon you by a father figure of some sort

redzero
03-29-2012, 09:59 PM
:lmao so you don't have a goddamn reason to get married.

Let's review:

• You tried to argue that one can have a party.
- I explained how retarded it is to want to get married just to have a party. Furthermore, one can have lots of parties without getting married.
• You tried to argue that there are financial incentives to getting married.
- I explained that the risks (e.g., divorce, alimony, etc.) outweigh the benefits.
• You tried to claim that one can get free sex.
- I responded by stating that one doesn't need to marry in order to get free sex.

The rest of your arguments have been strawmen. You equated being against marriage to being against love/relationships numerous times.

So, can you tell me what reason one should have to get married instead of just staying in a relationship?
