What?

Did you not see watch what he did to your team in the Playoffs?

2002 WCSF
Game 3 - 11 points on 5/5 shooting to give LA 2-1 lead
Game 4 - Outscored entire Spurs team in the 4th by himself hitting the gamewinner at the end to give LA 3-1 lead

2008 WCF
Game 1 - Led team to 20 point comeback, hit gamewinner to give LA 1-0 lead

4th Quarter stats

2001 Playoffs - 4th Quarter/OT
Bryant - 40/80 FG, 7/18 3PT, 50.0 FG%, 54.4 eFG%, 38.9 3PT% in 16 games
O'Neal - 38/71 FG, 0/0 3PT, 53.5 FG%, 53.5 eFG%, 0.0 3PT% in 16 games

2002 Playoffs - 4th Quarter/OT
Bryant - 52/106 FG, 12/24 3PT, 49.1 FG%, 54.7 eFG%, 50.0 3PT% in 19 games
O'Neal - 32/85 FG, 0/0 3PT, 37.6 FG%, 37.6 eFG%, 0.0 3PT% in 18 games

I'll bite.

This is how simple it is. Being the best player on your team twice, or being the best player on your team 3 times during the Finals?

How about being the most valuable player twice, or once?

Combine that with 4 rings and 3 being a teams best offensive AND defensive weapon? It is clearly Duncan.

Which player has the best career win%? Kobe or Duncan? The playoffs aren't the only part of a career. Oh, and TD still hasn't lost in the Finals. The funny thing is... Kobe has lost even with multiple all stars and hall of famers on his team. LOL KOBE!!!

Fair enough. How about we try this. These are just a few of the players that TD had to face at his position which happen to be pretty solid defensive players in their careers.

Ben Wallace, Marcus Camby, Kenyon Martin, Dikembe Mutombo, Kevin Garnett, Shaquille O'neal, Pau Gasol, Rasheed Wallace, Arvidas Sabonis, Antonio McDyess, Robert Horry.

That is all I know off the top of my head btw. There are probably more.

Yeah I know. I am just trying to show the Kobe fanboys that the quality of defender and type of players Duncan has had to face throughout the years. I look at that short list and see quite a few shot block champions, DPOY's. That was just for him to get his points. He also shot over 50% against players like those in the playoffs. Then you have to add in the fact that Duncan also has to defend the O'Neals, Gasols, Bynums, Howards, Malones of the NBA. Not to mention also defend against slashing guards and whatnot.

Tim clearly has meant more to the team and has been the sole reason for having such a high career win%. He has to do a hell of a lot more than Kobe does. Kobe leaves a lot of the work for his frontcourt.

What I am saying is simple.

Kobe was the best offensive player for his playoff teams. Duncan was the best offensive and defensive player for his teams.

My vote goes to Duncan as far as better career. He doesn't get to hang out around the perimeter on defense. He has to be there every game on both sides of the court.

It's easy to drop numbers when you don't have to carry your team and the actual best player on the team is getting double-triple teamed...

Duncan hasn't lost in the finals, Kobe has

Kobe repeated multiple times, Duncan hasn't once

Duncan has more final MVPs than Kobe

Kobe has more rings than Duncan

Duncan did it with less talent

Kobe did it with more harder competition

You can go back and forth, nobody will ever agree.

It's easy to drop numbers when you don't have to carry your team and the actual best player on the team is getting double-triple teamed...

Rememba det time when Shaq left and Kome missed the playoffs and got kicked out in the 1st round?

When the keys to the team were handed to him, he failed, then he started to kick and scream and requested to be traded.

You do remember that part too, right?

So you don't remember him quitting on his team and trying to force a Bynum trade? :lmao

Duncan > Kobe

and it ain't even close son. that is a non-biased, outsider opinion who doesn't like either one of them. however anyone with a brain who understands the game of basketball and doesn't get all of their opinions from watching SportsCenter will know that Duncan is the better player, has had the better career, and has done more for his team in one championship season than Kobe has done for his team in his entire career.

Duncan was the LEGIT, CLEAR CUT team leader of the Spurs for two out of their three NBA championships. He was "that dude" during their first two championships in 2003 and 2005, and then became a role player for their third championship in 2007 whenever both Parker and Manu took over the leadership role.

Kobe on the other hand has never once in his career been the clear cut team leader of the Lakers during their title runs. not ONCE. He has always been a glorified role player and in recent years a "forced" co-leader AT BEST. Kobe was blessed to be thrown onto the Lakers in arguably the best market for professional basketball where not only the media fell in love with him, but the league did as well. Shaq was the team leader when he was there and Kobe completely shit the bed during the three and a half years without Shaq until Gasol's arrival, etc..

Duncan = Greatest Power Foward of All Time
Kobe = One of the Greateast Shooting Guards of All Time

Kobe = Jerry West
Duncan = Wilt Chamberlin

2 great players (never saw the old guys play live) but Duncan has more rings than both those guys combined and Kobe has more than Duncan ... even if you add Wilt's college title (think he got one ... not sure).

Facts are Kobe is a chucker, and needs a lot of help.
From refs, from team, from coach. Doesn't matter.

Truly sad he turns down that help, and chucks games away.
After all, they can't shoot for him (and even if they could, he'd not let them)

A truly, truly sad story. :(

There are probably more.

I am wondering, who exactly has Kobe had to face during his playoff runs? Any players particularly known for their defense?
