I get that damn paranoid feeling that this is a trap game...but with a bench this deep...I'm confident the Silver and Black come out with tha dub.

I simply don't understand how the Pacers aren't better than they are. There's some major intangible that they lack, because I can't really think of anything they don't have.

Totally agree with this. Offense and defense down low with West and Hibbert. Athleticism, scoring, and defense on the wings with Granger and George. Maybe not the deepest bench, but some decent backups/specialists in Hill, Hansbrough, and Jones.

I guess they could use a better PG than Collison (dump Barbosa and make a play for Nash this offseason?) but overall they seem to be a well-rounded and strong team.

It seems a little bit mental to me.

Maybe they lack proper leadership?

Granger and West are probably the most established veterans but there's nothing about either of those two (Granger in particular) that says "leader" to me. Actually I've seen him behave really immaturely.

That and I don't think Granger has been particularly efficient.

They're a team with a number of good, complimentary players. They lack a true star or leader.

PER is far from perfect, but it illustrates the point here. The Spurs have 3 players in the top 25 on the PER list and 4 in the top 50. The highest ranked Pacer is Hibbert at 54.

vBookie on which Pacer scrub will burn the Spurs tonight?

I think Barbosa seems to fit that mold. Although not a scrub, I think Hibbert is going to dominate but the match-up I'm excited about is the Granger/Leonard match-up.

I just wish to God the Spurs take Blair out of the starting lineup soon

I don't really have a problem with Blair when he's active and disrputive and slashing to the basket. If he keeps that up for the rest of the season, the Spurs have an excellent chance of beating anyone they face. Pop doesn't leave him in the game on the nights that he struggles or if he's overmatched. In addition, he rarely finishes the game.

It doesn't matter. The important thing is setting the tone on the defensive end from the opening tip (so the other team is unable to establish the rhythm that carries them through the game), and Blair is simply a huge liability on that end.

I agree there's no need to tolerate Blair if we can get better defense and the same or better production.

Jackson first games with us were pretty impressive tbh. Then he had a couple of not so great games but still with more energy than RJ ever gave.

possibly, i was just impressed how he, several posession in a row took it to the hole set teamates up or took good shots, playing perfectly within the offence, yes rj was a joke, i think the fact that dick never really tried translated into the rest of the teamates, so they didnt give full effort either, to win a championship you need everyone to be giving full effort and be on the same page, this team looks completelly different than they have in last 3 years, lakers imploding, and spurs match up well with the somewhat inexperienced thunder, think this asterisk season its spurs finals appearnce to lose

Hmm... I'm not sure. 12 3s in a half is probably not the best in terms of numbers.

1st quarter D was pretty good but that 30 point second quarter looks a little disappointing to say the least. Judging by the boxscore it looks like I'd be having mixed emotions with respect to this game.

We can't realistically expect Spurs to put four good defensive quarters together. The best we can hope for is one or two good defensive quarters between 15-22 points and to survive the others in the 25-30 range.

As long as our offense plays well though, that's more than enough to win. Not too many teams will hold these Spurs to under 100 pts.

I'm just saying it from a long-term prospective. Can't take what you see in this game as the norm. If they take this many 3s in the playoffs, I can't see them making it at this high of a clip.

Championship teams don't give up 25-30 range quarters even once every game in the playoffs. There's simply put, no way to win a championship giving up 100+. We must hold teams to about 92ppg-ish consistently to win the title.

Depends who you play. Against OKC anything under 100 would be good and a easy win. Against Chicago or Miami I'd be happy with anything under 95. Against the Lakers, 92.

In general, I'd say if we hold somebody to 95 or less and lose, it's the offense's fault. If we allow 96 or more, it's the defense's fault.

Nah, score would be closer. Spurs have been getting a lot of wide open shots, but if they weren't getting them at a high percentage like tonight, the D wouldn't be stretched as much and the D in the paint would be tighter taking away a lot of Parker's and Manu's drives.

Are you high on drugs? Teams like Miami and Chicago are defensive dynamos & hold teams consistently in the low 80s in the playoffs. Giving up anything 90 or more would be suicide against those teams.

We scored 98 against Miami and 89 against Chicago without Manu, Jackson or Diaw. I think we're a better offensive team now than we were when we played them.

To be fair if you're going to rely on offense you better have some consistent offense like low post scoring. It can't just be all jumpshots. Those 95 Rockets were an inside-out team with Olajuwon dominating inside on offense and defense. I have no problem with us taking alot of 3's if we generate it from inside. TD, Splitter, and even Diaw can do that.
