Hate to say it because Duncan deserves to retire as a Spurs if he wants to, but - off course. The Spurs would be set to win another 3-4 championships with Howard, Parker, Pop and the other young players.

Not sure if Howard resigned with the Magic, the Spurs could offer him a max or near max contract after this season. It would be transition from Gervin to Robinson to Duncan to Howard era. Doubt he signs with the Spurs, though.

No.

Why not? I think that any slight advantage Duncan has over Howard defensively is negated by Howards age and upside. Duncan may only have 3-5 years left as a premier center while Dwight is much younger. Both players are probably equal offensively at this point. I'd take Howard.

Why would the Spurs trade Duncan for a one year rental of Howard?

Dwight Howard is not the leader Tim Duncan is, and he's mentally weak at times. He can be a team cancer if he isn't 100% happy as well.

Yeah we want a big dummy on our team in exchange for an intelligent player on the court in Duncan.
