ST, do not adjust your computer screens or do a double take at Lakers' box scores. Since starting, we now have a PG that has averaged 15.6 ppg on 49% shooting, 54% 3pt shooting, 80% FT%, and 8.8 dimes per game. Last night's 23/9 was pretty good. So good that I bring video proof of his emergence:
UnJve_0NIAU&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Maybe him dropping CP3 off for 24/13 as a Cav wasn't a fluke. ;). Watch him score a full court layup in less than 5 seconds. Is he just as fast as TP (not to mention younger :toast)? Hmmm...

15.6 ppg and 8.8 apg suggests that it is not him that is the issue. Like I said in another thread, when that playoff rotation shortens, you won't see us blowing leads like you have lately. These games right now are sacrificial. Call them glorified practices in preparation for the big dance. Non-issue tbh.

How much he outscored Fish against OKC? I mean, Lakers have been playing some really crappy teams lately...

You deflecting. Fish is a backup chucker with that team. They don't need anything from him other than vet leadership and being the mole that he is.
I guarantee you Fish won't outplay him (as you are suggesting) in the playoffs. Now run tell dat! :lol

He didn't do much against OKC as a Laker. Little known fact: he's already beaten OKC as a Cav on the road. This year. WB had 19 points which is closer to what would happen come playoff time. 36 points? Won't happen in the playoffs. You can quote me on that.

Don't know about "few years"... definitely last season... but Fish at least was clutch, and was a floor general...
Thing is, all we have to go by right now is Westbrick dropping 36 on his ass at home... the question is, was it a fluke?

That's my only worry about him tbh. At first it was how would he play in the "bright lights" of Staples. He passed that with flying colors. My hope is that he will pass playing in the playoffs for the Lakers as well. Why? KGB are options 1-3. He just needs to play his game and let KGB do the heavy lifting.

Well, they need more than that... Fish would've been enough to do just that... defensively, I'm sure he'll be better than Fish, but the jury is out as far as guarding quick PG. MB also needs to figure out how to use his speed better, because he can't create his own shot, so that's what he has going for him...

Although he has shown that he can score as a Laker, I don't want him scoring more than 10-15 ppg tbh. I want him to increase the shooting percentages of role players like MWP, Barnes, Murph, etc with his passing ability. He can do that due to the attention KGB will command. Like I said, I expect the playoff rotations to shorten and the focus of the team to sharpen come playoff time. MB is still trying to figure out how to use a real pass 1st PG (the whole team is tbh). Once they do we have the complimentary pieces to do major damage in the playoffs. Rebounders, swatters, hustlers, bigs that can shoot 3s, etc. We just got to put it together in time for the big dance. We'll be fine... Non-issue.

That would be a new role for him, tbh... never been near double digit assist in his career... I expect him to be more of a scoring PG... having all that speed on the perimeter and not using it is kind of a waste...

I think it will depend on matchups. He's had some really efficient scoring games (i.e. 7/10 FGAs). I would love to see MB cut him loose but for now I'm content with about 7-9 dimes and 10-15 ppg. Those dimes means that the bigs are getting their touches in their sweet spots and more importantly the scrubs are contributing.
MB should have cut him loose on WB. WB is no way near an all defensive team defender. I have a suspicion that the next time(s) we play things won't be so one sided.

Neither are the Spurs, but it doesn't stop you guys from getting excited about new players (Leonard). We can be excited about Sessions while realizing our team's fate. It's called being realistic. Had you guys channeled this train of thought last year (tempered expectations) you wouldn't have had an emotional meltdown after Game 6 last year.
another overrated dude imho, kobe shot piss poor the past games and for sure mamba ain't anymore that guy who could dribble off the double and still make it, but its unfair to blame him for the whole shit tbh. sessions just a one-dimensional scorer he ain't havin no business how to run the court & clear the floor for teammates, i think there's a reason why the lakers run 5-4 since sessions joined and mike brown would rather start steve fucking blake in big games instead of him

The West has no dominant or even close to dominant teams, so IMO the Spurs are a contender. They also no longer have Dick who was more or less a toxic presence on the Spurs during the playoffs the last two years.
If I had to bet on it though, I'd say Bonner and Blair get too many minutes and that's what loses them a playoff series.

I just don't think he's what you want him to be. But we'll see.. I'm not saying Sessions is bad or isn't an upgrade over Fisher... I just think he's much more of a scoring guard on the mold of Parker, Westbrook... speed and penetration... I don't think "pass first" really is his game...

That's adorable.
I almost never homer out for the Spurs, and knew last year's fun-and-gun style was doomed to fail in the playoffs (I still think the Spurs should've beaten Memphis), but I believe this team has a legitimate shot at winning the Western Conference. The Spurs are a much better defensive team on the perimeter now with the subtraction of RJ and the addition of Leonard and Jackson. Last year's Spurs were typically outmatched at the 3 spot, now the Spurs often outmatch their opponent at the position and/or have the horses to defend the superstar 3s of the league, like Durant.
A Duncan/Splitter/Blair/Diaw frontline isn't by no means a weak frontline (I know Spurs' fans hate Blair, but matched up properly, he's a very effective player in the vein of Milsap/Maxiell, a player who can disrupt the inside with his energy). Compared to the Lakers, sure, but what frontline in the league isn't? I'll put this frontline against Memphis's Randolph/Gasol combo any day of the week.
This team is much improved and much more balanced than last season's SSOL Suns impersonator. My primary concerns are Ginobili's health, Duncan losing the all-star form he's seemed to regain once the playoffs begin, and Pop under-utilizing Splitter.

Unlike many Spurs' fans, I like Blair's game, but within a certain context. The problem is that Popovich thinks he's a starter when he should be coming off the bench to beat up the opposing team's scrub backup bigs (like the McRoberts and Collisons of the league).

Bad bump. Ramon had nothing to do with how shitty Parker played tonight. It was because of Bynum and Gasol's presence in the paint.
Ramon also had a stellar 5 assists to 4 turnovers and was pretty much irrelevant the entire game.

1) They did not show this game on Armed Forces Network! :bang
2) No Fisher. Even with our twin towers, TP got his on the regular. (now :downspin: that shit).

I still like Sessions, tbh. He showed flashes of brilliance, just shit the bed in the playoffs. I'd prefer Lakers gave him 1 year to prove himself, but only if the price is right.

I heard the Knicks are also looking for a starting PG...
Plus with Sessions' work in Kobe he'll know how to work with a ballhog.

Opting out wasn't such a good idea for Ramon.

Not really surprising…Ramon wasn’t really comfortable playing PG for the Lakers & taking the blame for not being able to guard Parker & Westbrook…Still, how messed up is it that the Lakers can't sign the Cav's 2nd team PG...

EL SEGUNDO (ST) - After the disappointing debut of Kobe and the Canadian, The Lakers Basketball Network continues to struggle in the Point Guard time slot, where it has to go up against such ratings juggernauts as Russell!; Chris Paul, Ya'll; and The Tony Parker Variety Hour. Since canceling Derek and his Daughter's Eye after a successful 13 season run, LBN has so far been unable to regain the traction it once had with the reliable ratings grabber that won 5 O'Brien Awards during its tenure. Analysts believe the massive failure of The Ramon Sessions' Show, which was the initial replacement for the much beloved Derek and his Daughter's Eye, alienated viewers from the network, thus contributing to the lukewarm reception of the show LBN president Mitch Kupchak proclaimed would be a "homerun."
