With tonight's victory, the Spurs go to 17-10 on the road and clinch a winning road record for the 2011-12 season.

That makes 15 consecutive seasons with a winning road record. The next longest current streak is four.

The Spurs' winning percentage on the road is .603 over those 15 years. To put that in perspective, there are only two teams in the NBA that have an overall winning percentage better than the Spurs' road winning percentage during this period.

Impressive.

Remember when we started out 0-5 and was the only team in the NBA along with Milwaukee and Washington to lose all road games?

That Dallas OT loss changed everything.

We are very lucky to see quality like this for an extended period. Yes we might have a few more championships, but this team has been so consistently good for such a long period... we are totally spoiled.

They say that to win on the road, your reserves have to step up. We're bringing Manu, Jackson, Tiago, Neal, and Boris Diaw off the bench. With a side order of Bonner, Mills, and James Anderson. Tonight our bench outscored Boston's 44-24. That's gonna win a lot of road games.

Early road struggles are way past for Spurs. They are 15-2 on the road after a 2-8 start with 1 of the 2 losses being a tanked game @Portland.

For as good as the Spurs have done during the regular season you would think they would have more championships.

A win tonight in Sacramento will extend the streak to 16 seasons.

Miami and OKC are tied for second longest such streaks at 3, with both on track for 4.

I don't know where to find it listed, but I did enough checking last night to be reasonably certain that the Spurs hold the record.

It's easy enough to check for full seasons above .500. I found only three streaks of 16 seasons or longer of above .500 play for entire seasons (home and away). The Lakers had a streak of 16 seasons from the late '70s to the early '90s, the Jazz had a streak of 21 seasons from 83-84 to 03-04, and the Celtics had a streak of 19 seasons from 1951-1969. I was able to find a season in the middle of all those streaks with below .500 road play.

So unless there was a team that managed to preserve a streak longer than 16 years that included at least one season of below .500 overall play, the Spurs have this record.

Last night's win over the Clippers clinches a 17th consecutive season with a winning record on the road for the Spurs.

Miami and OKC are tied for the next longest such streak, with both well on their for their 5th consecutive seasons.

Neither the Heat nor the Sonics will come close to 17......The Spurs might very well get to 18 next year. After that - who knows.

As with everything else in SA, there is a distinct line of demarkation - Pre-Duncan and Duncan eras. 17 years. That is a long freakin time to be relevant each and every year. Amazing. Enjoy the moment Spurstalkers.
