Lots of sandwich places around now.
Subway
Schlotzsky's
Jimmy John's
Quiznos
Firehouse Subs
Whichwich
What's everyone's favorite of the chains?
I like Jimmy John's but wish they had different bread choices.
So I think I'm going with Schlotzsky's.

You guys have a Zoey's in San Antonio? Not a sandwich shop per say but they do have a great sandwich called The Grueben. o

Pickled Pigs Ear Sandwich at Olivia brunch in Austin is one of the best I have ever had. It's sad there are no true Kosher delis here, they are usually always fantastic. Noble Pig in Cedar Park is also great.

Jimmy's Food Store in Dallas has an amazing Italian deli, on the days I don't mind making the trip.

Subway. Flatbread turkey, drag it through the garden.
Firehouse is good, if I am in the mood to try one a new spicy sauce, of which they have a lot.

There is a Kosher/Italian deli in New Orleans called Stein's - amazing sandwiches and a quirky beer selection including a bunch of Scandanavian beers including stuff from: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/15711
I picked up an Odin's Tipple and Haandbakk. Both awesome.

Of the chains, I like Jersey Mike's. They're subs and their food is some of the freshest I've had at a chain.
Tbqh, subway and quizno's have some of the poorest quality food out there.

agree that subway is one of the worst. just the smell in that place alone is enough for me to lose my appetite.

I'm seeing a lot of Quizno's shut down. The problem I have with Subway is the inconsistency in the freshness of their vegetables. And occasionally gristly chicken.

Firehouse Subs FTW. Quiznos FTL.

Dibella's in Pittsburgh. Best bread, and the bread makes or breaks the sandwich imo.
For chains, i liked jimmy johns when i lived up there.

Only ones I've had are Schlotzsky's, Subway, and Firehouse. Firehouse is pretty damn good if for nothing else than it's different. Subway is good but not great, I don't think it deserves the premium price they ask for. Can't even remember Schlotzky's because it was so long ago but I'm thinking it was like subway solid but not great.

I live in New Orleans. There are a few Subways here. And I think maybe a Quiznos in Kenner or Metairie? I can't for the life of me figure out who goes there. Or why.
Not when there's Stein's, Mahony's, Guys, Crabby Jack's, Domilise's...

I'm sure there are those who can't for the life of them figure out why go to Stein's, Mahony's, Guys, Crabby Jack's, Domilise's when you can just go to Subway and get a footlong for 5 bucks.

Thundercloud. If anyone's ever driving through San Marcos, I HIGHLY recommend Alvin Ord's. Get the Salvation on French, it's like an original from Schlotzky's but on steroids and so much better. Plus no nasty black olives. After enjoying your sandwich, peep on some college hotties walking the campus.

One of approx. 2 good things in Round Rock

This is whottt I imagine Schlotzky's used to taste like
Go there often... but the owner/manager is a total dick! Food is great though.

I'd exist on cold sandwiches if I could. I like Jason's Deli, but home-made is pretty darn good.

I prefer Jersey Mike's because its not all oily. When I'd go there I always tell them no oil but my sandwich was always drenched. Figured out later it was the damn pepper relish.

I had a roommate in college who used to get Jimmy Johns delivered twice every day. Eventually he'd just smoke w with the Jimmy Johns guy instead of giving a monetary tip.
It's a little amusing in retrospect, but at the time we'd get paranoid that the JJ guy was going to narc. But he didn't. So, props Jimmy John guy, whatever his name is
:lol When I lived in Tempe, AZ my roommates and I would smoke w/ the Silver Mine Subs guy as a tip...sometimes we got free grub that way too. I still remember det guy (and the name of the place too) because he was a college kid whose delivery vehicle was a black 15-passenger van.:lol

Too much bread though but their sweets definitely rock. Especially those cookies.

I think Subway is the best sandwich for the price.
Quiznos makes a good sandwich, but is over priced.
I've always thought Thunder Cloud is like a lesser version of Subway.
My favorite bread is from Schlotzkys.

If you find yourself north of Austin often enough, check out this place in Pflugerville:

The owner seems like a nice guy, but he also kind of reminds me of:

Live just across the tollway from there... been past it but never to it. We tried the mexican place across the street (Tequila grill maybe?) once and it was just okay. Anyway - thanks for the info.

My top two right now.

If I said Spicy Pickle, would it be considered a cool and hip/delicious sandwich place because it's by the drag in Austin?

By the way, Players was bought out by the sith lords over at UT, so if you want to grab some quality nachos, now is the chance.
